🚀 [GUIDE] Airdropping Hundreds of Unique NFTs on Ethereum Mainnet Using a Gnosis Safe (Low-Cost Owner-Only Minting)
A lot of NFT airdrop guides stick to side-chains like Polygon to keep costs down, or they recommend pricey third-party batch tools. I’m here to share how I managed to airdrop 500 NFTs to different unique Ethereum mainnet wallets for just a few bucks in gas using a Gnosis Safe and a custom Solidity contract that allows owner-only airdrops.
This approach doesn’t depend on outside services or sketchy scripts. It operates directly through your verified smart contract and your Safe's Transaction Builder, which reads your ABI automatically, letting you select the airdrop functions easily.
🧠 Overview
The trick is to make the mint function cost-free for the contract owner. If you want to put a price on it for others, go for it, as long as the supply and setup allow that. Then, set your Gnosis Safe as the contract owner. After deployment, you can carry out gas-optimized batch mints (airdrops) straight from the Safe, reaching hundreds of unique wallet addresses all in one Ethereum transaction.
🔧 The Solidity Contract
Here’s a simplified version of the actual contract that made the airdrop happen:
⚙️ Why It Works
The publicMint() function costs 1 ETH per token. The ownerMint() and airdrop() functions are free but only available to the owner. Your Gnosis Safe is the contract owner, not the one who deployed it. Your Safe executes airdrop() on the Ethereum mainnet, minting NFTs to hundreds of different recipient addresses in just one transaction. Built on OpenZeppelin.
