Hey everyone, I'm living in Hong Kong but I'm from France originally. I'm hitting some roadblocks with major crypto exchanges like Binance and OKEx since they don’t allow perpetual futures trading from here. I come from a software engineering background and I'm really keen on testing out strategies with perpetual futures. I'm looking into options like setting up a company overseas or getting a citizenship that’s friendly to crypto. Has anyone tried these options or know of other ways to get around these restrictions? I’d love any tips or ideas you might have! Also, if you know any exchanges where I can trade crypto derivatives while in Hong Kong, that would be awesome! Thanks a lot!

I think the problem is in your citizenship, if you're allowed to do it, then it must be an exchange that has a French license, doesn't matter where you are, in the end when you KYC, your French passport is what matters. So you're gonna have to do it through an intermediary, as you say, a company registered where the license allows. Easiest seems to be a HK company

Sometime ago I heard from some canadians they use a Palau ID to access derivatives or was it just any restricted exchangs from them lol. If I'm not wrong it's some sort of offshore residency? I'm not sure if it still works nor could input personal experience as I haven't tried it personally. But you can try asking at r/BitcoinCA -- subreddit. I'd be interested in whatever option you take. Update us about the how's of things lol 🍻

If you are temporarily residing there, then you can just use your French passport and verify as a French citizen, then access the service using a VPN. Alternatively, have you tried Bitfinex and Kraken yet? I read their terms of service, and they seem to allow Hong Kong residents to trade derivatives. Try opening accounts with them and check out. I would however recommend you read the terms of service again because I just skimmed through them.

It's not your citizenship. I am French but I live in Hong Kong and have tax residency in Hong Kong. It's about your residency. It seems Palau digital citizenship doesn't work anymore: https://citizenx.com/insights/palau-id-kyc-binance/ But both France and Hong Kong block crypto derivatives trading. Does a HK company or other company works on Binance ?

For me, it is always my nationality (the one I use to KYC). They ask for passport and don't accept residency card unless it is PR and you also pay taxes there (I guess that's more important). Palau didn't work yeah cause that was used a lot by Binance for fraud. Binance moved out of HK long ago so I guess you're out of luck.
