BITMAIN ANTMINER S5: Setting a New Benchmark
Only obtainable at bitmaintech.com
Posted on December 22, 2014
A little over a year back, Bitmain introduced the revolutionary Antminer S1 to the scene. Finally, miners didn’t have to compromise on space, noise, or hashing power anymore. The S1 quickly became the go-to choice for home miners, until it got an upgrade with the Antminer S3 about seven months later.
Now, Bitmain is excited to roll out its 3rd generation chip along with its 9th product: the Antminer S5.
Reviews:
1) Chip Details: BM1384
This is Bitmain's latest Bitcoin mining ASIC, and the BM1384 brings some serious upgrades compared to the earlier BM1382. The hashrate at 0.75V voltage has jumped by over 20%, and power usage has dropped by 30%. This is thanks to tons of hard work and investment in the Bitcoin space.
2) ANTMINER S5
The Antminer S5 builds on the success of the S1 and S3, keeping the compact design from previous models but featuring the more efficient BM1384 chips. It runs on just one fan for quieter operation at home and has multiple enhancements over the solid S3 model.

Wow, that looks awesome!
When do the orders open?
We are hopping for less Power Consumption and less price.
Now i cross my finger that S4 will be low to 500 USD to buy in bulk.
why so in hurry?
remember, never buy the first batch of the new miner.

That's not going to happen any time soon....
Well, who may know. May be this will happen.
just hopping.
it doesn't have a lid?
Looks really good. Will wait to see how it performs in the hands of miners. Hopefully all goes well and I will get me a few of these.
Looks much the same as the S3 on the outside but the S1 on the inside.
Not impressed by the tag line: "The absolutely promising bitcoin chip in the market".
Really? I can only hope no advertising buro was paid to come up with that slogan
Specs look like a modest step forward. Pretty much leading the pack today, but probably not enough to compete with upcoming AM/BF/SP rigs, but much will depend on their time to market.

$450 seems little high
with shipping and customs tax on top.
I was ready to order, but now a little disappointed. Specs not far away from rivals, relative high price, without shipping, no PSU.
Looks like S3, so maybe the S6 will look like S4 :-)
I would also like to know when orders will open up.

S3's went up for sale in one hour from my posting, maybe S5's will follow suit.
Specs ok but don't like the open design. I wish the price were lower also.
