Hey folks, I'm about to kick off my first bitcoin mining setup with a whatsminer and an antminer. Just curious if anyone's got tips on where to place them. I heard it's not great to just leave them on a table because of the vibrations that can mess with their lifespan. Let me know your thoughts? I've sorted out the temp, ventilation, and power, so that's all set 🙏
Best spots for my mining rigs?

Move this thread to mining board if you want to get quick responses from users who have experience in mining - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=14.0
The best option is using a mining rig frame. But the most I see are usually made it accommodate a number of rigs. Maybe if you plan to increase the number of miners with time, then you can get that frame. You could also just DIY or get someone to fabricate for you a custom frame.
The most important things for the longevity of your ASICs are:
- a controlled and anticipated air cycle, as antminers need a certain volume of air to work properly
- controlled air humidity
- the stability of your electrical installation, is it safe and stable?
+ an appropriate temperature in the room of course
So, as per what you wrote in OP, you should be fine.
And of course, depending on the ASIC (not to mention the S17s...), you'll need to be lucky to not have a shitty unit

If you have a m30 or a m50 whatsminer they like 230 volts
If you have an s19 model antminer they like filtered air and dry air.
If you can keep temps for intake at 15-25c for the cold isle.
And the hot side/isle under 40c
It is very important to have separation of hot and cold isles as the mine grows. with 2 miners and a big space it is less important.
If you have 2 ASICs and need to reduce noise, then think about buying a noise box.
2 fans or one do not cause strong vibration, so ASICs can be installed on ordinary shelves.
Do not install ASICs in damp areas and there where thieves can easily steal.

For equipment that do not have a stand by design, It will not be good to place them on the direct floor because they were never meant to be kept there. You can keep them suspended like on a platform not too high from the ground that can be easily constructed and at a safe place or distance with shelter where there will be no danger of something like a liquid getting spilled on it.
It also has to be placed in an area or place where it will not often be moved.
Thank you guys for your response
so i have launched the rig with the two miners and this are my stats so far ( it has been 5 hours) so inlet is 54 55 55 and outlet temp is 69 69 70 with 5700 fans speeds noise is not an issue so far since i am working with a 500sqmeter land
.i have an exhaust fan (3960meter cuber/ hour rated) and i have proper intake fitted with dust filters
also the air coming in gets filterd two seprate times and has to also pass through two rooms to get to the miners so humidity is not an issue and ambient temp is from 17 Celsius during night and 28 degree Celsius around 3pm (hottest time of the day so based on this is it a good mining rig what do u think? Oh and also my city is resting 1,700 meter above sea level

build a box with ventilation so u reduce the noise and the vibration
this is how i keep mines
I think that 2 ASICs will not give you any trouble even without filters and ventilation. The most important thing is that there is no moisture or industrial dust in the room, otherwise the fans may break down more often.
If you want to expand, then already calculate the ventilation for your mining equipment

I think if the temperature and ventilation and also the power supply are all good then it is not ideal just to put it anywhere. Do not make it tall or nose heavy if you were looking for silent operation although it is not going to with that silent but you got the point. If you have access to custom parts or build some on your own, I suggest using springs to keep it suspended in the air with the frame. That will reduce vibration and noise. One intake and one outflow is going to be enough.
I think all the other thing that you need to do has already been answered by many people here so I will not go into that. If your cooling process is only air flow and temperature control, not having enough airflow time to time can create hot spots which may damage the components. So make sure that air flow is doing its job. Not getting proper air flow could lead to components becoming hot and can give you hardware errors.
Have you yourself used springs to reduce vibration in mining?
These ASICs have no vibration with their fan.
Dont stop a person from mining with such advice. In Russia, ASICs work in garages with a simple ventilation system, but they do not burn from vibration.

Dude, it was just a suggestion. And also I don't own any kind of mining rig or anything like that so I have no idea how much noise and vibration it could make. Mining being illegal in my country makes it hard to learn about it and experience it. OP has already set up his rig with temp control, power control and ventilation. If he was having any kind of problem with sound or vibration then what I said could be a cheap solution. And also you don't want your components to get wasted quickly right?
In case of any kind of problem like this, people can use this advice as a solution. But it depends on themselves. I never said to anyone to stop mining. And it is better to prepare for the worst from the beginning. Because with any kind of electronics, things can happen randomly.
Its very strange when you have no experience in mining or working with equipment, but try to write advice without even studying the process from videos or articles.
In my country, mining is also illegal and there have already been criminal cases for consuming electricity at low prices for mining, but miners still continue their business.

I work with pc components and I know how those thing works. So I don't think I am not capable enough to suggest any advice. They are similar in terms of operating but having different kind of usability, they are considered different.
And also, just because I am wrong doesn't mean that I can't share my opinion! By sharing we learn right? If I haven't posted this, you wouldn't be here to correct my mistakes. That's how we learn dude.

A clean environment with less dust and also make sure it's well ventilated, apart from these two necessary advises you are free to place your miners anywhere you like.
I have a separate room for crypto mining, and it's well ventilated with 4 big lent windows, the weather here is very hot and that's why I always leave the door open when we are in a hot and dry season.
Temperature use to increase higher on miners in this period of time, rainy seasons and harmattan seasons ( west Africa ) are the best for miners because everywhere will be cold and you will need them warming you up and you will watch your miners temp going lower than normal, Just keep an eye on your miners.
Several ASICs can be installed anywhere, but if you have 100 ASICs, then you will not be able to install that many anywhere. 100 ASICs see a lot of heat, but they also emit a lot of noise. If 100 video cards can be installed in the basement of a private house, then it was a good idea to heat my garage in the next room and the noise of the video cards did not bother anyone in the house. This won't work with ASICs.

A dust free and well ventilated area are the best choice for keeping your Asic miner and also don't forget to take good care of the machine, something that works all around the clock will eventually get some durst in them, make sure you clean then after a long period of operation.
Also know that the more Asic miners you have the more noisy they become and also the more heat been generated, I suggest you watch videos online to just have some ideas about how asic miners are placed or set next to each other, some have extra cooling features installed but it depends on your home, and where winds do flows from.
If you are preparing a mining room with fans, then you will definitely have to use filters to prevent snow and other dirt from getting into the room. There will be no dust in such a room. But if you're talking about installing ASICs in industrial areas where there are metal shavings, then this is a bad place.

The best place for miner hosting is Norway, Dubai and Paraguay. But beware of scams, you need to find a legitimate housing company. I use CircleHash, and few of my friends are using iceriver europe hosting, which is also connected to circlehash. I f you wanna help with it, hit me up
