Keeping this spot for updates and FAQs.
FAQs:
1. Is p2pool supported by S3?
Short answer, yes. Bitmain is really keen on making p2pool work, and we've put some resources into it. Our firmware might not give a solid confirmation that p2pool is fully supported at the moment, but we promise to invest more into p2pool mining than a lot of others already doing it.
Edit: AntMiners do support p2pool. It’s best to set a static difficulty. P2pool changes difficulty a lot, which can cause some hash rate dips when it switches. So, don’t be surprised if the hash rate is a bit lower than the official numbers when mining in p2pool. We suggest setting a static difficulty on AntMiner when using p2pool. A recommended difficulty would be 256 or 512.
2. How do I set a static difficulty for AntMiner when using p2pool?
Go to 'Status->Miner Configuration' and set Pool Worker as 'BTC address/256+256' or 'BTC address+256'.
3. Are there plans for S1/S2 upgrade kits?
Yep, we’re working on upgrade kits for S1 and S2 users. It’ll take some time to design and test, but once we’re done, we’ll share the plan with everyone.
4. Why does the beeper ring randomly?
In the first firmware version, we added a beeper alert to let users know when there’s no hashing activity due to poor pool settings. But we’re planning to remove that alert in future firmware updates. You can get the new firmware version on July 25.

will there be p2pool support please?
thank you for your prompt response. appreciated.
How many S3s will there be in the first batch?
Edit: Batch 1 units for sale on Amazon. Great if you only want to buy 1 or don't have enough bitcoin.
Edit #2: I ended up purchasing through CryptoCrane.com. Their Feedback on Amazon is stellar, but they sell for cheaper on their own site. I got my S3s quick and packed well, so I'm happy

Bitmain - can you please inform p2pool users weather these are compatible before they buy? Thanks.
Is p2pool supported?
You had mentioned prior that previous buyers of Antminer S1 and S2 miners would be able to upgrade. Can you provide any details on the upgrade pricing/process?
I would definitely like an answer regarding p2pool support before I pick up any.

I would also like info about p2pool compatibility.
Bitmain - there are many people who have bought your hardware only to find that they are unable to use it effectively/efficiently with p2pool. The S1's needed a fix by Kano (cgminer dev & demi-god) to operate optimally, the S2's were also incompatible - although I believe Kano is again working on trying to fix this. It is my understanding that you were also sent all the relevant information needed to provide a fix for the S2 by forum user "PatMan" to make it compatible with p2pool a while ago - but as yet there has been no news.
Now that you have released the S3, p2pool users are wary of buying them due to the previous problems with using them on p2pool. Unfortunately, the p2pool dev (forrestv) has been inactive for the last 10+ months with p2pool, leaving p2pool users with a very limited choice of available hardware that can be used with the software. It would be greatly appreciated by both p2pool users and the Bitcoin network in general if you could not only ensure that your hardware is p2pool compatible, but also advise them if your hardware was usable with p2pool before they buy it - thus saving disappointment and frustration at not being able to use your hardware with the only truly decentralised mining pool software available. In these days of greedy pools like ghash/cex threatening the Bitcoin network, it is more important now than it ever was that miners have the choice to mine where they want, thus distributing/decentralising the network hash rate.
With this in mind, can you please advise potential buyers if the S3's are indeed tested & compatible with p2pool, and if not, do they or the S2's have an upcoming "fix" to enable them to be used with p2pool in the near future? Every user of p2pool is eagerly awaiting news on this issue - please help put their minds at ease & at the same time, help with the decentralisation of the Bitcoin network.
Kind regards.
Looking forward to my unit arriving if i can get in on the sale early.

How can you defend the price of BTC 0.75 ?
I used https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator and it was impossible to reach ROI.
speculation on BTC price increase!
+1 to this!!
Unless Bitmain can provide some info on p2pool compatibility before they go on sale - my satoshi will be going in the Spondoolies direction - they provided a fix in their firmware for p2pool within days of users requesting it.
COME ON BITMAIN - SOME INFO PLEASE?!!
What time do these go on sale?
For P2pool lovers, the 2nd floor of this thread has been updated. Wish the answer make you satisfied, or at least enough for you make a decision. We will make a great contribution to the p2pool chain very soon.
in 14 minutes.
