Big news, everyone! El Salvador just announced Bitcoin as legal tender at the 2021 Bitcoin Conference with Jack Mallers.

This is crazy! But I think we should wait a bit. The president needs Congress's approval first. Still, such a huge step for crypto!

Yeah, but this has been in the works for a while. There’s potential here. Interesting how many in El Salvador are unbanked but have phones and internet.

Totally! If they get a lot of citizens using crypto, it could set a great example for others. Can't wait to see how it plays out!

So true! But I wonder if making Bitcoin legal tender will actually benefit those without bank accounts. What’s the real impact gonna be?

I mean, it’s a huge deal! El Salvador would be the first to officially recognize it as legal tender. That’s a big shift!

Right? It’s a little country, but this could spark a movement in South America. Other nations might take note and follow.

Definitely could open doors! If El Salvador pulls this off well, I can see Venezuela jumping on board soon.

A digital currency could really help those unbanked folks. But I’m curious about how strict the rules will be once this bill is in place.

Yeah, I suspect regulations will be tight. Japan’s got some good examples of how to handle it. So, still a win for El Salvador!

Look, it’s great news, but let’s be real. Bukele’s political ties raise some eyebrows. Will this lead to more freedom for its people?

But hold up. This still needs congressional backing. El Salvador might be ahead in the game, but will it last?

Good point about the term 'legal tender.' Japan did something similar back in 2017. Is it just semantics or real change?

Legal tender means it has to be accepted for payments, including taxes. That’s huge! Just waiting for Parliament’s final word.

Agreed! But what’s Bukele's party like? Do they hold the majority? This could hinge on political dynamics.

If lawmakers see most people don’t have bank access, they might lean towards this bill. Imagine the miners showing up!
