Hey folks, I’m wondering if this specific external hard drive would work well for hosting a Solo Node like umbrel. Can I just install umbrel on a USB and then transfer everything to the Seagate? Or should I just buy an umbrel set up with a ton of TB storage since the blockchain is always getting bigger? I came across this 24TB drive and it seems like a solid choice, like it could be my one and only purchase for years to come.
If I get this drive, do I need to have another PC to actually run the node? I get that I need the PC to be on all the time to keep the node operational.
Any advice would be awesome.
Cheers, Loshi BTC
Is a 24TB Seagate Expansion USB 3.0 Hard Drive Good for a Solo Node?

no need for a slow 24tb drive.
a 4 tb ssd like this on amazon is good.

any of the above are good.
they all can attach to a small form pc and run linux or attach to a laptop and run linux
4tb should last for years and is much faster than the hdd.
you can clone a backup to a 8tb hdd in case the ssd dies.

Bitcoin blockchain size growth isn't fast as you expect. Theoretical maximum block size is 4MB, while average block size this year is about 1.59MB[1]. For reference, current blockchain size is about 702GB[2].
Your HDD will die before 116 years passed. So i agree with @philipma1957 suggestion, although i would also recommend you to avoid QLC-based SSD. Such SSD could be very slow after it used all cache.
