Hey everyone, happy new year! I’m looking for some insights on a problem I have with a USDT-TRC20 wallet. There’s an issue with the private key (it has too many characters). I can restore the wallet using a backup file without any issues, but only through the Guarda app (that’s how I created the wallet). Here’s the weird part: even though both trx and USDT-TRC20 share the same address and private key (with the issue), I can send and receive trx with no problems. But when I try to send USDT-TRC20 (and I have enough trx for the fees), it throws an error when the transaction gets broadcasted. What’s the deal with sending trx versus sending USDT-TRC20 from the same wallet (same private key)? Any ideas on how to fix this and finally send USDT-TRC20 to another address? Best regards

There shouldn't be any issues arising from your case, since you said you can still send Tron (TRX), right? It would be good if we could get some more explanation from you, for example what message appears when you try to send $USDT from the wallet, etc. You can also attach an image to this forum by taking a screenshot, uploading it to TalkImg & then pasting the BBCode here (since your account can't display images yet, I'll quote it later, mate).

You can try to provide a ss what kind of error message that appeared when you're trying to broadcast your transaction. If it's related to the energy, try to stake some tron in order to give you energy to send your USDT. I know the mechanism of tron is kinda complicated, and not many people aware about that.

I just requested  my access to talkimg.com. Need to wait for the access. Then I can share screenshots. About the issue: I can confirm that the problem sending USDT-TRC20 is not related with not enough trx in the wallet for fee. For sure the problem is related with the malformed pk(have more than 64 characters), but that pk is the same for the trx, and as I said, no problem to send trx from the wallet. The pk is showed inside Guarda app without problem, and I can save it to a file. But for the big size is impossible, until now, to import to another crypto wallet. I restore the wallet in Guarda app using a backup file(off course this backup file include the wallet pk).

Talkimg doesn’t require any special access to upload pictures. First of all, you should check the USDT smart contract to see if your address is blacklisted. What I know about Guarda Wallet is that you should be able to see the mnemonic in the wallet's settings. You can try importing that into different wallet software to see if it will restore your balance. Based on the case of the user Grinni, Guarda’s private keys and mnemonics sometimes have compatibility issues with other wallets.

As soon as you've uploaded the photo there, it will give you the bbcode link for the screenshot you can share here. I haven't used used this wallet yet but I think if it's about the malformed pk, there's a problem on how you have imported the key from that wallet where you've got that USDT TRC20. What is the original wallet where you've got that?

It seems i get a club what's your problem. I mean the key you export from guarda is unable to be opened in the different wallet, right? It seems you take the keystore instead of privatekey. The decimal owned by keystore is far longer than privkey. So you can try to use it on tronlink. As far as i remember tronlink was supporting the keystore import, and i hope you will solve your problem. I remind you there are some ways to secure your wallet through exporting your mnemonic, keystore, privkey and by password. So i think it's worth to try since you said it's longer than priv key.

More details: The wallet was originally created with Guarda app, then I sent some USDT-TRC20 and TRX to the wallet, and that's it, I'm unable to send the USDT-TRC20 to other address. I repeat, that in Guarda app, I can see the long pk through the user interface without problem. Guarda not have the option to save the mnemonic, only the pk and a file backup of the wallet. Then, these are the only options I have to import the wallet in other crypto wallet app. Until now I tried more than 20 crypto wallets and none of them allow to import a pk with more than 64 characters(Tronlink included). I tried also to send the USDT-TRC20 using trony, a project that allow the management of a wallet and send cryptos using phyton script, and saw that when the USDT-TRC20 are sent to other address the script validated the pk format, maybe this is the cause of the error when I try to send USDT-TRC20 using the Guarda app. The error shows: Failed to send tx and appears when the transaction is broadcasted. See the error in the screenshot: https://talkimg.com/image/Uz4Kqf I'm continue thinking that if the TRX can be sent without problem, then should exist a way to send the USDT-TRC20 too.

Open any VPN application and then send the transaction. "Failed to send tx" indicates connection problems, which means either the Guarda app or your ISP is blocking access to SPV node. If the VPN fails to complete the transaction, import your wallet seed to any wallet and send the transaction.

Off course, I also tried to send the USDT-TRC20 using a VPN app, and the result is the same. The address is shared with the TRX, and the TRX can be send without VPN.

In the screenshot we can see that when I try to send the USDT-TRC20, the transaction remains in "Broadcasting transaction to network" for a few seconds, and then appears the error "Failed send tx". https://talkimg.com/image/Uz5cho

"Failed send tx" could mean anything, and it is not a very descriptive error message from Guarda wallet. If you are able to sign and generate a raw transaction hex from some other program or tool, and you broadcast it using some tx broadcasting website, does it give an error message from the validator? That will tell us whether the issue is during signing (address issue) or some USDT contract execution failure.

On the desktop version of the web app, under the settings tab, there should be an option to get the mnemonic. Unlocking your wallet with the backup file and password should allow you to see it. If it is not there for you, your wallet file might be corrupted or there might be a bug with how Guarda has implemented the Tron network.

I see you have 10 trx in your balance, and the trx estimated fee is 8 trx. It might be the estimation isn't in accordance with the network and requires more trx to broadcast the transaction. Try to deposit more trx and try again, you won't lose anything. Another possibility is the Guarda wallet version might not be updated which might cause such errors. Check if it's the latest version. About the PK, did you try to open the address in all other available clients? It's not possible that a PK works in accordance with only one type wallet.
