So, I picked up a Ledger Nano S around Christmas from ledgerwallet.com because it was the cheapest option. Turns out, that might not have been the smartest choice since it came from France and I can't even find a phone number for support.
Their email support takes like 10 business days to respond, and honestly, the help I've received hasn’t fixed the issue. I think the device might be faulty or just needs some technical tweaks, but I’m stuck here with no way to sort it out.
I can follow video guides and written instructions just fine, but sometimes what I see doesn’t match what I’m told to do. Ledger doesn’t offer a full user manual like you'd expect with any phone or laptop it’s like a game of telephone, and I'm just waiting for help that never comes.
After I bought it, there was no firmware and no button to install it following the user guide, so I hit a dead end. Support told me everything was fine if I couldn’t see the firmware, meaning the system was set up and ready. But now there’s this new firmware version 1.4, and suddenly there’s an “Install” button.
When I tried to install the firmware, my Ledger kept disconnecting from the laptop and asking me to reconnect. I have to unplug it and plug it back in, but then I get a message on the Ledger saying the MCU software is outdated. It says I need to update the MCU using the Ledger Manager app, and it tells me to press and hold the button next to the USB for 5 seconds.
