I'm curious about what you all think about having a trading mentor. How do you go about picking one? Is it all about their track record and results, or do you just take their word for how much profit they've claimed to make without any proof? Let’s chat about the best ways to find a good trading mentor.

Results do not lie. Don't listen to what they say or write, look that the results that they have consistently produced over the years and that is how you choose a trading mentor. The results include more profits and few losses. If the reverse is the case, then they are not the right fit for you. Secondly, look at how involved they are in the trading community. Do they like to help other younger traders become profitable and successful. If this one is lacking then, they will see you as a competitor and not a mentee. There are others though but these are the two most important that I look at.

Sincerely you might not be able to know who is actually profitable just by watching them on social media. Most of the traders we see online makes money from their mentorship rather than trading. What differentiate a good mentor online is he shows the public what is realistic and don't try to paint the whole picture colorful. Some might claim to always be in profits which we know very well is not true. A real mentor will tell you that he losses too and also post it for everyone to see. Thats how you know someone who's actually in the game for real.

I have a trading mentor in the past that is recommended my trusted friend. The mentor I choose is offering free trading tips and occasional signal that has higher success rate per trade. I don’t usually easily convince by this mentor because I preferred DIY on trading but mentor helps me a lot to learn deeper on trading including actual strategy that will work in crypto. They are good too on finding tokens that showing good signal for buy and sell because it’s their main job. So for me, it more on the result and a vouch of a trusted friend that actually use it.

Someone who does not brag his profits but stay humble and keep encouraging new traders to trade on their acquired knowledge, and developed skills and strategies so they can trade on their  own and succeed without relying on their mentor forever. A good trading mentor goes down to the level of his traders, that’s where he can connect well to his mentees and help set their development goals and objectives without doubts and trust issues. And lastly, a good trading mentor should always be patient, highly knowledgeable and above all, non-judgmental so he can create a good learning relationship between him and his mentees.

You choose mentors based on practical results, this is why I'm against online mentorship because these people can put up someone else's successful trades and claim it's theirs. Choose a mentor that shows you the proof of how his strategy works. One way to spot a fake trading mentor is when they are always desperate to teach, a trader that's always available to take classes and market his courses doesn't trade. This is why I tell beginners to always look out for such things, don't be fooled by the things they show you on social media, it's just to get your attention.

The first step should be to know the kind of mentor you want. Looking closely at contacts and personal network, if one could find a physical trader who is into the trading game, one would have solved the need for a mentor. Also, if one could join a trading platform like pocket option which have a variety of traders and merchants with long experience, the proof of their work or activity could be monitored to know how genuine and credibly good such a trader is, thus contact could be made to know them personally and maybe ask for a few pointers. The last option I see is for one to find a mentor in this forum space where we have so many of them willing to share their knowledge and experience and probably teach someone willing to learn.

Choosing trading mentor will not only depends on sugarcoating words people pour on someone, or what you heard about the personality in respect to trading,i think it is ideal for you to get close to the person you intend looking up to,from becoming closer it will help you to really understand whether he/she is good at what is doing. Consistency, resilience and “never giving up attitude” are those features  a true mentor should possess, with these we can come to a conclusion that these trader is a profitable trader and is equally a mentor per say. So you don’t have to rush when choosing a mentor because 90% traits of that person will automatically get into you during the course of learning.

Good and I like I have read the comments above its true that results shows the most the evidence towards trading and anyone who doesn't have the right result are meant to be called a mentor or someone who could lead people towards their right part of trading. Was in a discussion with Someone and she preached about how his mentor was that good in trading then I asked how often do you make profits while trading and said still leaning, asked for how long have you been learning said close to two years and yet no results, this led me to come create this topic to know how we should choose a trading mentor because whatever the mentor does should reflect to their trading.

It varies depending on the type of trading mentor. Some people trust the advice and copy it, which is known as copy trading. Others take it as part of their trading plan, where the advice is considered an investment and may not change their investment decisions, which is preferable. As for the method, the more deeply you DYOR, the better the results.

I don’t choose a mentor. I don’t need it. That doesn’t necessarily mean I am ignoring other people’s advice though. When I see a successful trader, I ask about his strategy and try to learn from him. If it sounds right to me I also trade using the same trading strategy. If you blindly follow someone and ignore everything else, you might lose many other good stuff out there. Nobody is perfect. Successful traders can go bankrupt too. It happens every once in a while.

As much as possible on which it will really be that ideal that you shouldnt really be getting up some mentor since you can be able to learn up things accordingly without having a mentor but if you do really want that there's someone that will guide you then its not really that bad an option for you to take as long you do know to make yourself that learn on what are the things that makes you been able to encounter or being taught then its just fine. People do find out that having a mentor is not that needed but actually its something that giving out that kind of organization on what are the things that you do need up to know on orderly manner. For choosing up then of course it will be that needed up for it to be profitable or having that good winning rate or when it comes to profitability.

I think the first thing to consider when choosing a mentor to learn trading is whether the person we want to choose as a mentor is only sharing their profits or is also sharing their experience of making losses. Because I think transparency should come first in mentorship. And in this case, most fake mentors will only show their past profit history to attract people to buy their course packages. On the other hand, those who are really good mentors will definitely maintain transparency in front of everyone about their losses and profits. And secondly, I think you should look at their reviews, not just their own website, but also check reviews from places outside their website where people can independently give reviews, both good and bad. Then if you like the style of that mentor, you can choose that mentor.

Are you looking for a trader to copy their trade, i know that many people want to go into copy trading because they have seen the success of the person they want to copy, but they turn a blind eye to the mistakes and failures. In copy trading, it is the actual trader that learns from their mistakes and improves, but you who is doing the copying may find yourself not developing, and the reason is very obvious. That said, it may be better to learn generally without actually looking for a particular mentor, it could limit your learning process and understanding of trading.

Learning from a good trader will cost a lot of money, which most of us are not willing to pay or do not have at all. I think the best solution would be to focus on self-education, especially since there is more than enough free trading information right now.

Mostly, what we see online is only sugar-coated, meaning it’s not happening in reality, or probably an exaggeration maybe just to attract those who are looking for mentors. So it’s a red flag seeing mentors boasting their achievements from trading. What we are looking are those who let us see the reality in trading, that there are more losses than gains especially that we are still in the process of learning. And those who really care to listen and understand us, and not those who sets authority without putting their shoes on their mentees.

If whatever the trader is saying and doing resonates with me, I'll choose him or her to be my mentor. However I am not so big on having a trading mentor because these people have on flaws that once you will not see from a distance but once you get closer to them you'll notice and that will be a total turn off. I prefer having a mix of friends that are on their different trading journeys that I can learn from. U like mentors where I am restricted to one person, in this type, there is no restrictions to learn. I learn from every and we learn from one another.

It's rare to find a legitimate mentor. Like the one-on-one mentoring that you'd do, maybe for a week or two and then they'll wait your trades and personal experience and result. So, the real and actual mentors cannot be found just anywhere in online. They have to be in gatherings and actual meetups that are organized by some good known organizers or projects. But to look for them online, even if you'll make a lot of standards, you'll have hard time in finding them.

Trading mentors are said to be highly knowledgeable and skillful, that’s number 1 fact that we need to find  from a trading mentor. Second, trading mentors have the ability to harness and develop us into reliable and independent traders, helping us realize the potentials we have deep within as traders. And lastly, trading mentors open us to the actual scenarios in trading, that any time losses are possible but with due diligence to learn trading,  we can avoid and minimize them in the process.

Normally choosing a trading mentor should be based on result, this is what one needs to confirm by prove and not just by boosting. Before choosing someone as trading mentor the quality of trading must first be seen from how the person behaves. Though having a mentor does not really affect the outcome of a trader because trading is personal,  but what can really play a good impact in people trading from mentors is learning from their past experiences,  mistakes,  learning the conduct they exhibit towards trading but every other things such as emotions,  the trading market,  strategies,  these are things one needs to learn and have knowledge about.
