I've been diving into this grid trading strategy lately, and honestly, it seems like a solid way to trade. Way less risky compared to martingale, which can wipe out your funds pretty quickly.
For those who have used this approach for a while, what kind of results have you seen?
And if you're not using this strategy, please skip posting here.
I tried it out back in the day and after a week or two. The outcome wasn't satisfying. The difference between my initial capital and the final amount with the profit was negligible. Maybe my set-up was just poor, maybe the amount of money I used wasn't that much, but what I noticed is that I was spending a hefty sum on trading fees (the exchange was happy having that fee and encouraging me to do more grid trading). That was the last time I thought about grid trading.
Which exchange is that?
If you have $500 for trading, the same amount of money that would be charged on fee for opening a position with $500 will also be charged for opening positions of $100 fives times for grid trading.
The exchanges that I am using are charging low fee.
If I recall well, the had an account with 3commas and then linked my bybit account using API keys. So the grid trading was done via the 3commas bot or app and everything else such as the portfolio stats and overview were clearly displayed daily on my 3commas account dashboard.
I understand, but probably because of how I had probably set up my grids, there were so many trades getting executed and with the small profit i was getting with the sideways market, the trading fees took a good part of the profit.
