I’ve got a few S9s that have been heating up my place this winter, and I decided to give them a little upgrade. I swapped out the 3 cables from the control board to the hash boards and put in some new Delta QFR1212GHE fans after seeing good things about them here. But now, the miners keep restarting and I’m getting an error that says bosminer isn’t running. Are these fans not compatible or what?

Why not try to reflash it again with BraiinsOS. If you want to know the reason why it keeps restarting I suggest you to post the system and kernel logs here so that we can analyze the logs why it keeps restarting. Don't forget to put the logs inside the code tag to your post so that we can read it and it makes your post clean.

Why don't you put both system and kernel logs here? I would like to know how your unit scans the fan if it only shows not enough fans then your miner is not detected properly. Without logs, we can't analyze your issue well. Anyway check these - Black   =  - 12V - Red     = + 12V - Yellow =  Spd Signal - Blue    = PWM Signal These are wires on the fan make sure each of these wires has a signal if you have a multimeter you can check the red and black for voltage and check both yellow and blue signals if they are connected properly to the control board. If not then you can jumper them directly from the fan to control board.

Here are the logs. I'm curious why it isn't working.  Seems like the specs are the same as the fans I took off then put right back on. My settings were for 1 fan even though I have 2 plugged in. I think it's quieter with both fans running at lower rpm. I'm using my asics as heaters in the house, The s9s are set at 700w. When I use them in the garage I remove a fan.

I can't find any other reason why it keeps restarting after fan replacement. This error below is what I see It looks like firmware corruption. Anyway, if the fan is running fine physically you can disable fan check ask it from their official thread here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5036844.920 Or try to revert it back to the original firmware(Bitmain stock firmware) and test it again and put the whole kernel logs here. There might be an issue with both yellow and blue signals and it might need to resolder the wire from the fan. It would be better if you have a multimeter to check if both signals have resistance.

I put the old fans on and it works fine so I don’t think there is something wrong with the firmware. I’ve already been given a refund for the fans because they didn’t work as advertised on the s9
