It seems like the big block explorers haven’t allowed searches by first bits for a while now. I’m not gonna dive into why that is, but I’m curious if there’s any service still out there that lets you search by first bits, even if it’s just pulling from old data and isn’t regularly updated. Does anyone have a clue about that?

AFAIK, mempool.space added that feature not so long ago. But it's easy to miss because the partial match addresses don't always show, the firstbits has to be clicked sometimes. Another one is walletexplorer, but it's more of an address-matching tool than a blockexplorer. It's also limited to one result even if there are two or more matches.

They have indeed and it works good for me. I haven't had an address that I 'd search for but couldn't find it. Of course it doesn't work for addresses without any transactions. But that's obvious since they haven't been broadcast.

Thanks. That did the trick. Now I can look at the coins I lost the keys to many years ago. Trying to decide if I should attempt to repair an old hard drive to try and recover the coins or not. Looks like I should probably check into it. I’ve been hanging onto it for more than a decade but I think the time may have finally come.
