So, I’ve been using SMC mixed with ICT on lower time frames for my entries. Lately, though, I’ve been noticing something frustrating. My analysis seems to be lagging behind, and price hits my take profit before I even get in. It’s been a whole month without a single trade that tagged my entry before shooting to profit. I’m really trying to figure out how to step up my trading skills.

SMC and ICT are almost similar strategies in my opinion not much of difference between them as both relies on breaker block, order blocks and inducement. This your plight of this strategy been missing your entry and then going straight to TP is not only an issue related to you alone but to anyone trading with smc and ict method. The reason for this is because the market is very volatile at the moment even though it is consolidating a bit. The reasons are the order blocks you set your limit entry at are usually influenced by inducement and ideally the market will come to fill this fair value gap of this inducement and pick liquidity below it which is usually the place where the order block is but in this market the price only fills partial part of the FVG and then start moving back in its direction. This leaves the order block untapped and then the market moves straight back to the tp.
SMC is well suited for LTF in this kinda of market, if youre a swing trader believe this areas will still be tapped later but below the order block will be the breaker block. The strategy best for this current market is Price Action, most SMC traders in this period use price action to follow up the price even when their is limit order to reduce the miss entries. Another thing most traders do which is a bit too risky is they set a big order block that covers almost everything even the entire FVG, but this method usually comes with very low Risk/Rewad. So for now learn and use price but SMC for HTF
for me mostly i used ICT, and i trade depends on the pattern of the graph. But before placing trade i need to accumulate more information like if it has possibility to BOS and to shift or if there a FVG respected coz it a win win set up for me.
Actually I've been stop out as well many times, which it seems always trying to touch my stop loss before it goes to my prediction, that's why sometimes if i know my set up has a higher win rate , i never set a stop loss and i close my position manualy if there's a manipulation, like something trying to reverse the market even the pattern is good. And what i learned using ICT is , never expect too much on TP. always rely where the liquidity or the price will stop. Coz tbh my winning trade turn to red and sometimes i missed to get the big profits. .
