Should I go for an Antminer S9 or invest more in an S19 as a beginner?

Hey guys, I’ve got a pretty straightforward question. I’ve been buying small amounts of bitcoin for a few years now, and I finally have enough cash to grab some ASIC miners. I've always wanted one but I've been super cautious about spending. Recently, I looked into electricity costs in my area and the prices for Antminers, and I’m ready to make a move. I found an Antminer S9j on Amazon for about $260 (shipping included) and an Antminer S19j for around $2000. The thing is, both would likely break even in roughly a year, so I'm torn on which one to get. What do you think is the better option for a newbie like me? I also spotted a used S15 on Amazon, but it only has a 2.5-star rating, so I'm a bit skeptical about it. Plus, with the halving coming up next year, I’ve heard it might get tough for someone who doesn’t have a solid mining setup (like a good number of ASICs and steady income). Thanks a lot!

the s9j wants 120 volt power the s15 wants 230 volt power the s19 wants 230 volt power A lot depends on your heat  removal issues. can you stand to burn 3000 watts for the s19 and listen to a loud unit? you can run the s19 with braiins at 2475 watts it is not too loud.  but it is not quiet here is one running with braiins and a down clock

It also depends on your Electricity rate the s9j consumed 0.093j/Gh, s19j 0.036j/Gh, and s15 0.057j/Gh. So for better efficiency then choose s19j if you have almost free electricity then choose s9j it consumed more power but if you have a very cheap electricity rate you can make a better profit with this unit.

I'm glad you decided to work with Bitcoin mining. In addition to the electricity cost, power consumption, and noise mentioned above, you also need to pay attention to whether there are technicians nearby who can provide miner repair services. If you can’t repair it yourself, and there is no local repair center, sending the machine to other regions for repair may be risky and expensive in case of failure.

Do not buy asics for purchased bitcoins, it is unprofitable. https://www.cryptominerbros.com/blog/bitmain-introduces-antminer-s21/ "BITMIAN new BTC miner S21 will make world premiere on WDMS 2023! 2000 for a S19j is pricey in the current market. We have used 95th model available for 850USD

Not knowing how much you pay for electricity makes it difficult to make calculations. An s9 and an s19 are totally different. With an s9 and $0.04 kw you already earn nothing

Hi guys. I have no idea in regards to mining, but I am willing to learn. I checked this website: https://minetheasic.com/?BTC I saw that with an estimate of $0.1/KWH the S9 is actually losing money instead of earning. Am I correct?

ASIC S9 has not been used in mining for a long time, even with the availability of free electricity. With such ASICs, you will spend more time on constant repairs and troubleshooting, and in the end there will be no profit. ASIC S19 with firmware can be used at an electricity price of 4 cents.
