A bit about me: I've been in the mining game since 2012. So why am I starting this thread? I'm really into the SP20. Just to be clear, I own six of these miners. The first one I got was from Raskul for 795 bucks, but he hooked me up with a coupon that brought it down to 715 plus 119 for shipping, totaling 834. You can find Raskul's link to Spondoolies-Tech. For my second miner, I scored a deal on eBay for around 700 after using a coupon. eBay can be a gamble, but this one was worth it with a triple setup and two guys helping me. For the third, fourth, and fifth units, I made use of Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales with three separate orders, each costing 695 plus 119 for shipping, which adds up to 814. Raskul's sig link has those three as well. The sixth one was interesting. Spondoolies reached out to me about a free t-shirt, and I thought, why not ask if I could snag the sixth unit cheaper since they gave away ten machines for free to some legends? They agreed, so I got it for 814 minus 150, which made it 664, plus a free t-shirt. I used Raskul's link again for that. So that's my full disclosure. I'm not making any money off this, and if you check my signature, I don't get referral cash for any sales related to this miner. Now for the interesting bits: I've come across some links that I think are pretty useful for buyers and miners alike. Right off the bat, the machine claims a 1700GH rating, but I’d compare it to saying my Kia Forte can hit 120 mph or 190 KPH. Sure, that might happen if you're going downhill with the pedal pushed all the way down on a chilly day, but realistically, expect around 1600GH as your max if you have a good PSU and keep the fan running at 80 or 90. Oh, and the fan is loud, even at just 20% setting. Honestly, this is the best miner I've owned so far. Why? Because it downclocks really well. Thinking about bumping my collection from six to ten, but then again, maybe not.

I'm loving mine great machine.  And nice pics of it. It is a small form factor.  I kinda like it.   Long and slim.  And the under clocking is impressive. philipma deserves some credit for amazing underclock settings.  This chip is amazing.

not under clocked see my settings above after much testing and firmware down to fan speed of 20 the machine is 67 db. with super underclock to 1025 gh and 477 watts.  fan can be set to 10 or 15 vis ssh.  It is still not a quiet miner. I spend 746 watts and I am getting  1350 gh  or 0.55 watts per gh this allows the lowest fan setting  40..   give me an hour to find my db meter.   right now I love this piece of gear……….. 746 watts for 1350gh   out fucking standing.

yes, what is db reading when at various watts, including default? In addition, please post about what kind of pitch it is (low, high, etc.) and, if you can, compare the noise of S3, S4 and Sp-20 if you don't find the db meter, just use iphone or android phone-there are free or almost free apps that do it Thanks

Yes it is, but it actually matters most at the "final stretch" of the miner lifecycle. Unless it is a hobby, which it IS admittedly for most of us at current BTC prices, then don't you want to try to produce as much as possible as soon as possible?

I would and I will but with my sp20 using 746 watts from an evga 1300g2 if I add an antminer s-3 clocked to freq 243 or 250 it will do  490-500gh  and burn 380 -390 watts. thus the evga 1300 g2 will do 746+ 390 = 1136 watts and give me 1350 + 490 = 1840 gh grand totals of 1136 /1840 = .61 watts a gh.   and only 1 psu  and I can manage sound levels to do max hash for both units. I need a second psu .  I could come close to 2150 gh vs 1840 gh  but the extra 300 gh would cost 1 more psu and close to 450 more watts. with current prices for power and btc I am better off with underclocking. don't have a smart phone I am stubborn about it.  still looking for the metere. at fan setting of 40 the gear is about = to an s-3 at fan setting of 80 the gear is about = to the asicminer prisma. frankly for me I have to do settings of 40 or 50.  as an aside it got to 74f in New Jersey today.  My wife and I went to walk on the boardwalk at the Jersey shore which is nice.   But my house is hot really hot right now 84 F I expect my numbers to improve on the sp20 once it cools back off on weds. nice numbers for the btcguild  over 1400  for now it will be under clock maybe on black friday I will see if  over clock works well

okay I add an s-3+ newest version it also arrived today. the sp20 = 1323 gh  1)fan set to 40 2)volts to .62 3) watts to 175   = all low settings the s-3+ =   430 gh 1) freq set to 212.5   and  2) new option volts I set to 0.68  also lower then stock. total gh     = 1753 total watts = 1035 to 1055    That is well under the evga 1300 g2's limits   it comes to  .59 watts to .60 watts combining both pieces you get max value on the evga  .  my guess is I can go higher but with the unusual warm weather I will have to wait until weds to try over clocks. VERY HAPPY WITH THESE RESULTS.  size is close the sp20 is longer leaner. both units under-clocked it starts at about 1035 watts on this meter and 1055 on my other meter pretty small foot print and you can also stack

Thanks for posting all of this. If I can make a suggestion: Plug the 2 extra PCI-e connectors on the S3. I know that they are undervolted + underclocked, and that they don't need them, but you will be delivering current to 24 pins instead of 12. Won't change anything for the PSU wires, but you'll reduce the stress on the 2 plugged PCI-e connectors by half. BTW, that PSU is a total beast. You can run it all out 24/7 in 50c ambient without it breaking a sweat. http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story4&reid=349

Cool report please if you can post the photos on the picture of your rigs thread as well many will apreciate them. Also nice to see the low power this means longer presence in the shack..

excellent post Mr Ph. I have 2 S3's and 1 SP20 on it's way, I may just go with getting another SP20 (if mmpool ever finds this block!) and do the same as you have done. I've got 1 x AX1200i and 1 x EVGA 1600 80+ so it looks as though I should be able to replicate your setup. looks like SP-Tech have delivered on their expectations once again

yeah looks like east meets west is a match in heaven.  the newest s-3+ has volts and freq control the sp20e has the same. pairing them on the evga 1300 g2 has me fairly happy about extending the mining time with the gear. My goal is to continue to tweak the two.  I know evga 1300 will put out 1200 watts day in and day out. I am hoping to see if the settings of the two will give me 1900gh on 1150 watts.
