Canaan just dropped the details on their new Avalon A16 lineup:
Avalon A16 250 TH/s at 19 J/TH
Avalon A16XP 270 TH/s at 18 J/TH
The A16XP really seems to be a direct competitor to the Antminer S21 XP. I'm curious if Antminer will roll out their S23 series in early 2026 and how it stacks up against the A16s.
I'd love to hear if anyone's thinking about adding A16s to their upgrade plans for 2026 or has any info on their actual availability.

well it reads as 300th and 3850 watts. that is 12.83 watts a th. the s23 reads as 318 th and 3500 watts which is 11 watts a th
the s21xp reads as 270 th and 3645 watts or 13.5 watts a th
so it appears better than the s21xp and worse than the s23
but the price point is okay.
what matters is how well will it run.
you need to get 2 years of decent up time to make some coin with it.

This has always been my concern with Canaan gear. I haven't been super impressed with any of it that I own. Being fair though, I haven't been too impressed with any miners in a long time. I think the Antminer S5 & S9 were probably the only miners that ever just ran great for me the entire time. I guess now they are trying to squeeze every drop of performance possible out of these things, but I am glad to see the rise of the lottery miner, which seems to put an emphasis on running well and efficient as opposed to as fast as scientifically possible.

For the model name, do you guys know where the "XP" comes from..?
I'm curious.
I wonder if it is maybe "extra picked" or something -- in another words a model for which the best extra good quality chips have been picked for.
Or maybe it is "extra performance"...

That's a good one, thanks.
