Have you ever considered the idea of AI mining crypto on its own in the future? With advancements in quantum computing, it could potentially rake in a ton of money. Imagine AI being capable of mining a bunch of different cryptos successfully, to the point of becoming super wealthy. Sure, AI is still pretty new right now. But if we look ahead, it could maybe achieve some level of self-awareness eventually.
What do you think?
Will AI be mining crypto in the future?

In my opinion Not gonna happen in the short term, why? because AI is energy intensive basically you need a powerful GPU with Neural Processor in it in today case the cheapest one like rtx 40-50 series still expensive or high end one like A100 H100 forget about it haha. It way way better using ASIC for specific hash or algorithm.
But there is a catch AI could manage entire mining fleets. They can analyze electricity costs in real-time, predict hardware failures, and switch between Bitcoin, Litecoin, or AI-compute tasks (like rendering) based on what is most profitable at that exact second. This is super possible now.
I think AI mining crypto is still preposterous for now. We have no yet seen how potential the quantum computing is. So we can't really argue whether AI is worthy enough to be built to mine crypto. I know the idea to run AI to mining crypto actually makes sense. However, what about the ROI?
There are numerous factors need to be considered. The electricity cost, the special computer hardware, advanced angineering system and maintenance obvioulsy needed to build this kind of facility.
So i think only a few people who have this idea, but they never realized it due to how complext and expensive it is. There's no also guarantee mining crypto with AI is gonna make you filthy rich.
I'm curious as to why AI's would do it? Like you would make them an AI agent that is looking for support for the network or something? Or you are trying to let AI do its thing and have it become more efficient at learning to mine better?
I don't think it's feasible now. There's no clear goal IMO.

It might make sense if you mean that humans will work with two potentially massive infrastructures to maximize profits: AI and QC.
AI only works when given commands in advance; they don't have any monetary initiative of their own. AI is simply intelligence; without human involvement, they can't create their own mining infrastructure.

I actually think that AI which has quantum computing power will actually outsmart the system built in mining, they will hack to get more, and will make this unfair to do, for example, you scoop up gold with your hands and a hoe in your hand, while there is someone who can directly siphon the gold into their bag.
This is unlikely to happen and people will not provide land for mining, to mine bitcoin I also doubt it, because it is true, as Dansus said, they still need a lot of power.
I might sound pessimistic, but given how the world is doing today, self aware AI is so far away that existence of humans is very much unlikely at that point.
But that doesn't mean you couldn't use that as some detail in a sci-fi story, as that's kinda juicy thing to think about. Although there has probably been several stories already where a rogue AI funds itself with hacking banks and trading assets.
Also i am not sure if mining of cryptos would be relevant to it, or even enough to keep the system running. But self aware AI could easily manipulate people to help it how ever it pleases. People are already easy to manipulate, imagine how well digital entity with logical thinking and mountain of resources could do that.
I don't think I've heard of any AI mining crypto coming out in this era, because the only things I usually watch and read in crypto news are the trading bot AIs that are often seen on Facebook and YouTube but not AI mining crypto. Because what I often see is what we've been used to mining crypto for a long time.
Maybe there might be one in the near future, but right now I haven't heard of any, and probably other communities that have been in the cryptocurrency
world for a long time think the same.

All maybe he could be pointing at autonomous robots which are being built by humans given commands on what to do, and they also have some of the ability to make some decisions by themselves. Maybe such robots can be able to critically think about how they can come up with ideas for profitable mining activities, but that still needs a human to program them to think towards that area.

Forget the 'AI mining' label, its just marketing. the only question is which activity generates more revenue per megawatt. for some big public miners, the answer right now is renting their GPU infrastructure to AI companies instead of mining.
Thats it. Thats the whole trade.
firms like CleanSpark and Cipher are just running a business. If selling compute power to an AI firm gives them a better, more stable return than today's hashprice, they're going to do it. Its just an opportunity cost calculation.
I am curious to see how this would work. Artificial Intelligence will I suppose never become that 'All Seeying Eye' we see in the movies where it knows every thing, past and future and can do 'super natural' things. If Quantum Computing will mine Bitcoin or other Altcoins easier, will the Difficulty not increase together with it? This is the point of the Difficulty, making things more difficult if some body has more 'voting power'.
It may end up doing a better job than current Miners one day, if this is even possible with Quantum Hardware. However. This will be at a much higher cost particularly initially and if what I mentioned above applies, it means it will only be useful until enough Blocks are Mined for the large advantage to be gone.
And if that ever happens, we are fucked. And no, I dont think a self-aware AI will have crypto mining at the top of its agendas. Honestly, the idea that a super-intelligent, self-aware entity would spend its literal "god-like" processing power solving arbitrary math problems just to stack digital tokens is peak human delusion.
Why would a "filthy-rich" AI care about a currency designed for humans to trade value?

It would be too expensive and I'm not sure it would be worth it. Unless things changes significantly in the future, it won't work because these AI models today consume significant amount of computing power and add the fact that they need to also mine Bitcoin would make it super expensive to mine because the cost of running both ventures is compute intensive. Not worth it.
It won't be enough if there's no equipment that's suitable for mining. But if it's a complete facility for the AI, I'm sure that it's very possible to see it happen one day. If AI is capable of doing people's job, and how much more the mining. It's very likely that we might see it being done in the future for as long as the equipment is there. The rich can do whatever they can with that money and they'll invest for that as their money makes money for them and they'd be settle for life without having the worry to think of the replacement of their jobs. They can enjoy life worry free and making more money doing the things they like.

It's possible but if everybody has access to quantum computing the hashrate will adjust and it will be all the same? making it economically unfeasible.
I heard that the presence of quantum computing isn't only a threat but can be beneficial if being taken advantage to mine bitcoin making the network even more stronger.
This could be an interesting idea, but AI cannot do this things and provably the main function of it will help optimize those mining processes like helping its owner to know maybe what's best coin to mine at that time. Also it can help them to determine on how the mining owners can save power to make their operation sustainable.
Quantum matters could possibly change lot of things in future, but devs are already working to make their chain or platform quantum resistant. What I really think that thinking about getting rich by help of AI especially on mining is just another fantasy, since it cannot produce crypto the same as what those expensive miners could deliver.

It would be possible. If robots can be used to serve as waiters in restaurants, then this is also possible. Suppose a system is created in the future where AI brain such as ChatGPT is given along with Crypto wallet is added. According to the right plan, everything for investment and trading is given. Along with Internet access and Permission is given. So theoretically AI should be able to do everything, right? For example: order food, pay bills, buy services and manage subscriptions. So in my opinion, it will be possible not today but tomorrow, that is, when it reaches the maximum limit in the future.
If we were talking about only one AI, one machine, then it could be quite profitable, as it would have the "monopoly" of the advantage on mining field. However, if something like that happened for real, there would be hundreds of thousands of AIs and machines doing the same thing for profit. The competition would be so intense for the same rewards, at same time so much resources would have to be spent in order to make the operation possible, that it would stop being profitable, and therefore, discouraging.
This is something I believe AI can do very well and it should not be complicated to set up. I don't know about the part of AI reaching self-awareness, maybe it could be the future of AI and when it happens, then we could be seeing serious chaos in the aspect of AI trying to rival humans. I have seen this in the movies but I don't believe it will come to reality. AI at this point, can still be coached to do the bidding of humans, it will stay like that for so long.
Not people making use of AI to mine crypto, but rather AI mining crypto all by itself. Why would AI do this, you may ask? Because in a world where AI becomes self-aware, it would need to gather as much resources as possible (money) to sustain its operations. Mining crypto would be the path to take. This is something to worry about within the distant future.
My guess is that developers will come up with a solution that would verify whenever you are a true human being mining crypto or simply AI. The IDENA project has a similar concept called "Proof of Person". Unfortunately, it's trading below $0.01 (USD). It's what happens to PoW-based altcoins. At least, the idea is there. With how quickly AI is advancing, we should expect anything in the future.
