The wealth of a nation is meant for all its citizens, but the sad truth is that only a small group of people in power really benefits. That's why so many folks struggle in poverty. What if the government stepped in and made it easier for people to lift themselves out of tough situations? Like, how about giving every citizen some startup money (that they don’t have to pay back) when they hit a certain age? The amount could vary based on what’s realistic in each country's economy. This money could help people kickstart their lives, invest in businesses they believe in, and build from there. Wouldn’t this boost the economy and help fight extreme poverty? And could it lead to more job creation? Isn’t this a better approach than just hoarding cash in federal reserves?

The idea itself is really great, but the solution can't be called equal opportunities, because those in power are always given more opportunities and privileges, and it depends on the country. The situation might be the same for everyone but only the levels are different, haha. Anyway, in my country, there are many programs to help youth to move to other countries, or many loan schemes to start their own startups or business or whatever they want, so they can start earning or expanding. But it is only in one or two provinces that the rest are not getting benefit, one province is fighting with the army on the very same issue, and they say, our resources have been used by those in power while we are suffering. So things are pretty much the same everywhere, the solution is not to give them a loan, but give them what they deserve, and don't even try to take it back in the form of tax.

Growth is not something as today's economy puts it. GDP is a very misleading figure because around the world we've seen GDP growth happen without reducing unemployment and without reducing poverty. If the wealth of an economy rises without leaving much if anything to the workforce at the end of the day where's the benefit? GDP indeed grows by making everything more expensive and making you save nothing after you're done working. The goal of the current system is for you to spend to be able to fulfill even your basic functions. Banks aim to make even housing an investment. They keep millions of perfectly fine properties off the market just because they've figured out this way they make more money in the long term. If one studies a bit of political science a lot more things in the economy start making sense.

This simple question raises more questions: How much capital will each person receive? If it has to be the same, how many business ideas are there? A good business should have no competitors within a certain radius. If it's based on preferences, how does the government cover the costs of large-scale businesses? Raise taxes? Increase debt? Print money? Then, how do you find workers?

I have come to understand that the idea of equality will never happen because if it happens, it will lead to chaos.  This is the reason countries that practice socialism or communism end up in poverty unless they do some touches to their system if government like China did. The reason is that equality tends to make people lazy, not aspiring to be batter or do more. In other words, people end up as average and not realising their full potential. Equality, equal opportunities or whatever you call it will not make a people great. A prosperous nation are those who are able to identify their best talents in business, politics, tech and others, and then give them the platform to flourish.

Why would that happen, equal income does not give room for innovation. Best advances are done in war, competition so why would you long for an equal income. Train not to fall for envy.

Giving every citizens money will cause hyper inflation this is because too much money will start chasing few goods. Many people will not even start business, they will just use money and lavish it. For me, the government should create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive. There should be infrastructural development like constant power supply, good roads, security, educational facilities, and others. The government should also provide advanced educational facilities where citizens would acquire relevant skills which will make them self-employed or in high demand in the employment market.

Yes, the resources belong to all the citizens and that’s why the government manages it….the system isn’t designed to be fair! Not everyone will escape poverty based on the system because the poor are also part of it, Laborers, workers and all that and they keep the system running even though they favor a certain group of people. The approach of giving every citizen a non-refundable startup fund is very wrong for the economy…not everyone has a mentality of building something or investing in something, most of the citizens when given that funds, will just lavish it and continue staying in their poverty.

But I think it is not that simple, there is no guarantee that everyone will use the money they receive productively. Also regularly providing such a large amount of funds to the government can also put pressure on the economy if it is not planned properly. If there is corruption or misuse, the purpose will be defeated, personally I think that if this fund can be linked to training, business guidelines or investment in specific sectors rather than giving out cash, the results will be much better. Then it can become a sustainable system that helps people stand up, not just giving money.

The idea isn't that bad especially here in my country it will be a great development because the lack of accessibility and resources is poor and with this it can give us access to bigger opportunities, I think if we get this kind funds then many can build up their skills, start businesses and again can be able to help themselves rather than waiting for the government to do something which we know will take forever because the leaders are only after their own well being they don't care how people do survive. With this kind of funding that you said will help in job creation and also boost productivity tha will make the economy grow but it can be accomplished by being accountable and also make sure that the structure is good because without proper monitoring great deas may not work as planned or will go wrong

You can only speak for yourself, when it comes to giving equal opportunity to the masses, not everyone has that ability to sustain an opportunity until in builds up and grow into a big resource that can benefit others too because when something is given to you, in return, something else is also expect but it's not everyone that has the ability to produce the expected result. There's a saying, "to whom much is given, much is expected." Everyone does not have the same IQ for creating a company, business, organization and you can not keep giving opportunity when there's no result coming forth. Some country gives the opportunity for their citizens to study for free at the university and after which you will get a job, while in some countries too you are privileged to scholarships if you are interested go for it.

There is no need for all of these if the government can balance the economy to be productive for any business or investment. If there are areas the economy is lacking, also security wise which will limit more industrialization that is where the problem is. I many not be in full support of the government giving funds directly to anyone who turns legal age, if there are good jobs, large employment each year and very less inflation, there won't be problem for anyone turning of age, to get a job and earn very well, if the person would like to go into business, have enough to save up capital, the problem is greedy government that wants all for themselves and generation to come.

This is wishful thinking. Equal opportunities? There are people that had the opportunity to buy Bitcoin. Years ago but only few did. Poverty is relative and resources are scarce. If everybody gets a million dollars Then it losses it's value and basis of been rich or comfortable goes to the trillions. Value is subjective Humans are born different and at different starting line. This usually encourages mediocrity

This will not solve the root cause of poverty. Just giving people money is not enough. First of all not everyone can build successful businesses. Some who will be given money will not use it properly. The country needs a better education system and an accomodating workforce that can handle all the graduates. There’s a lot to to fix in a country for it to be economically productive.

Such assistance seems very good, but in practice it can be a burden on the country, because it creates long-term dependency without empowering recipients to live more independently. Also, in its use, not everyone can use it wisely on things that are truly beneficial to them, so it can be misused for irrelevant things, such as gambling, buying bags, etc. This has happened in my country where so many young people who joined the government assistance program used the money they received each month to gamble, hang out, etc. As a result, the assistance program that was expected by the government to be optimal, instead became a program that wasted a lot of government money.

If everyone is given equal opportunity then people will lose motivation. Being competitive is what makes people to chase their dreams with their hard works so imagine they will get the opportunity whether they will give their efforts or not then I don't see anyone who will work for it that will make less standard workforce rather than the best. And what you are saying is almost aligned with the concept of communism and it's a tested strategy that's failed terribly so it won't solve the problem and to be honest poverty will never be eradicated from the society, it will be there.

The misconception itself is that many people think that it is everyone that can be given money to start up businesses which is a very wrong assumption because it is not everyone that has the idea to start up a business or even run that business. Businesses needs workers and let’s be brutally honest if everyone has same capacity to actually start up businesses then there will be no room for workers and this in turn is setting room for that country’s economy to collapse or be in jeopardy, so I disagree with OP about this

Some countries have fairer systems than others and while capitalism is the most effective economic system, for fairness it needs to be well regulated otherwise it falls under the spell of relentless corporatism. Companies last a lot long than the short careers of politicians who are lucky to make it a 8-10 years, they also have some of the cleverest and most ruthless people in charge who are constantly seeking to squeeze consumers even if that means trying to get laws changed for the selfish benefit of a few. Everyone does deserve an equal chance, but unfortunately there are also plenty of people out there who even with similar opportunities they will not grasp them or waste their limited resources through mismanagement.

Whether this will be successful or not depends on each individual. That is, it depends on whether the human resources are sufficient or not. Because the quality of human resources itself must be improved. So it is natural that many countries today provide free education in their countries. At least in Indonesia, there is a free education program from elementary school to high school. In other countries, some even offer free college education. Basically, this is to improve human resources. Then there is also a program to provide capital to young people who are not yet working. However, what I see here is that many young people fail to make good use of the capital provided. And this failure is not because their business ideas are bad. It's just that the growth of small businesses or entrepreneurs is too dense here, creating even tougher competition. I prefer a government that is honest and not corrupt. I believe that poverty issues would be resolved immediately. I am confident that every citizen could even be paid a monthly salary by the state without having to work, given the natural resources we possess here.

You mixed two things. The suggestion is socialism like model but with few differencies. The government monopoles all the sectors and people get equal incomes so nobody is better than the other. This model made the IRSS second biggest economic power during the cold war. Later we discovered that everything was a propaganda lie because of the disasters happened in many sovietes (example famine in Ukraine). Then you said that everybodies will have equal chances to lunch businesses to grow the economy. But you didn't tell from where the government will give the money to the full population equally? This is an etopic scenario.
