Hey everyone, sorry if this topic is a bit confusing.
I've been seeing some strange incoming and outgoing transactions from the Gate.io wallet. This specifically involves their Ethereum wallet (the main address):
0x05ee546c1a62f90d7acbffd6d846c9c54c7cf94c
Every so often, these transactions pop up, among others (I’ll share more soon). Can someone explain what’s going on?
Here are some 0.000321 ETH transactions that happened at exactly (Feb-06-2018 07:19:33 PM +UTC):

Anyone else noticed odd transactions at Gate.io?

Most recent outgoing transactions, Tx:

- Receiving wallet: 0x8a96e25fed1c0ca17132d8652ffdf48c844163a0
- Seems not very active. Added it to bookmarks to keep an eye out for movemement, but this can be just a normal person.

- Receiving wallet: 0xb5eddc09adfe90fedb55f9c930e782265cbdd16e
- Here we go again. What is this? Someone just facilitates a cash flow as hobby? The wallet where the ETH from Gate.io flows into is a KuCoin wallet.
3. https://etherscan.io/tx/0xff8f330cc06c7b7fd02d88afca659c3bf20035aa32abf5092d7110e86c5229aa

- Seems active. Added it to bookmarks to keep an eye out for movement, but this can be a normal person, just one richer and more active than number 1.
But what about that non-stop cashflow into the KuCoin wallet? And if you check the outgoing transactions of KuCoin, you're gonna find all kinds of coins being moved out of the KuCoin wallet (into the Gate.io wallet), following the same pattern.
And here's a same kind of wallet operating with both the Binance and KuCoin wallet. Notice the periodic transactions of 69.99 ETH, that pattern goes way back to the first transactions of this wallet (and very interesting as well is to see who made the first deposit into this wallet). Same goes for the tokens in this wallet, just flowing from (several) Binance and KuCoin wallets straight into the Gate.io wallet:

What about the KYC and transaction limit? This normal?
Just give it a moment, and I believe lucky number 0.00321 will come again.
Again, just picked a few transactions in the same time-frame:
1. Receiving wallet: 0xbb237b7aabe32f3327eb63c60a07e6aa98e3d315
Seems to provide ETH and tokens to the Liqui.io wallet by the same pattern again, <------- .............. Why?
2. Receiving wallet: 0xf06062f364ee99c01d26196ebd87e01ec81cafb2
Very rich user!? Ctrl-D
3. Receiving wallet: 0xb0ee7c92d1789ba91f2b51ce28c9879a3af89293
Seems like a new wallet, might just be an individual doing a withdrawl. The ETH is transfered from this wallet into a Kraken contract. Ctrl-D.
Is there maybe a website or service that facilitates something like this? Something that might explain the pattern, to which all exchanges are related? Otherwise it looks odd and highly suspicious to me.
A broad variety of users suddenly got the exact same idea to go and deposit ETH @ Gate.io.
Copy-pasted a few from log/notebook for those who like to see where this all comes from:
Literally everywhere.
0.00321 next?

Users cannot send the amount of 0.00321 ETH, so the only thing left that's +/- 0.003 is the Ethereum withdrawal fee. Why does the transaction fees move out of the exchange?
But isn't that the weird thing, because maybe these wallets are part of the Gate.io network? And if so, as they systematically withdraw ETH and tokens and send that to the Gate.io wallet, and the other way around, which all seems to go automatically, isn't that the definition of a bot? The way these wallets operate resembles more to computer programming than to human behavior.
Something else to think about.
I refrain from the assumption this is related to Gate.io alone.
These transactions dried up in due course of time, or at least various of the here presented. Whether or not this was a result of alarm bell, mechanism upgrade or migration, oversight and/or regulations, higher authority, it remains a mystery to the public.
However, one aspect of the above mechanism cannot be highlighted enough, therefore *kick*:
If actual trades are involved, it would be a false increased (perception) of trading volume. This of course happens with as good as every asset, but it may be difficult to point out the involved bots/parties/spheres due to the obfuscation of what/who is what/who that is inherent to all assets.
For if this mechanism is a 'natural' one, then why has it not been properly investigated and documented by involved parties (trading markets). The same would apply for it being an 'anomaly'. This topic -with nobody answering to this day- might require further digging, to make sure that fair dealings are not compromised.
One might suggest that the transactions are to maintain the balance/liquidity of involved markets, as if mechanism was 'authorized', but if indeed so then the transactions would likely be composed differently and there would be documentation of the procedure(s), validation guidelines, et cetera, which would simply explain all this.
