A couple of years back, it felt like these groups were everywhere, but nowadays a lot of them seem like ghost towns, full of bots or just shut down not long after they started. I’m really curious how other people are finding legit and active memecoin groups these days, whether that’s through digging around manually, asking for suggestions, or using some kind of tools or aggregators.
I found this compiled list of memecoin Telegram groups here:
https://icospeaks.com/news/memecoin-telegram-groups/
Not trying to spam or anything, just genuinely interested in hearing how folks are sorting through real communities versus the dead or spammy ones in 2026.
What have you guys experienced? Are these groups still worth keeping an eye on, and how do you decide which ones are worth your time?
Are memecoin Telegram groups still active in 2026?

I usually dont judge by member count but by engagement quality. If theres no real conversation, no dev presence, and no meaningful activity overall, the group is basically dead.
congrats with your first comment under my thread. do you follow any memecoin in telegram or somewhere else?
Most of those meme coins telegram groups are now managed by only telegram bots which has made it become a comfortable place for scammers. The bot that is integrated in most of those groups is more than 2 and they can never replace the work of the real human moderator that will answer critical question just like before. Now, those projects owners don't even want the success of their project, all they are looking for is how to benefit from investors.

It all depends if you find value in them. There have been a good number of declines as far as I know.
What do we expect, especially when majority of the memecoin community are largely filled with people with short term interest, and intentions to get what they can and move on to the next. In 2026, I would be surprised to see or hear that there are still active memecoin projects on telegram that has a decent number of community participants/followers.

It is easy to figure it out, if the group or channel is spammed by bots then that's almost dead. The members there are probably not even aware they're part of the group. That's because they're just added one by one whoever is in that group. I think that there are some genuine groups that are still alive but you'd see the real engagement from there. If you can't find one, it's best to leave those groups because someone from there might just be getting all of the contact details of all the members and will use it for their another group.

The memecoins hypes is still very much on the rise and for that reason ypu may have not noticed them that much in this year because you have choosed to ignore them this time because of you previous experience with them and how you have paid less attention to them this year 2026.
Alot of memecoins farms activities is still ongoing on telegrams and newbies are the set of crypto user's who mostly pay too much attention to the memecoins hypes in this era and time.

Telegram groups for meme coins are dead, just scam infested dying community in there. X is the primary source of meme coin if you really want to find some alpha because the trend started from there.Clawd, Penguin, and so on. All started from X therefore just forget about telegram.
Not to mention that the second you joined telegram group, there will be some random person trying to scam you and dm-ing you, it's not a rare news to see people getting scammed by scammer impersonating people because it's hard to distinguish the real account to the fake if you're inexperienced newbie.
After Pavel Durov's arrest in france, I just feel the entire ton blockchain and telegram going downhill from there. Still a good chat app although becoming more commercialized with stickers and all.

Crypto Evolution and MemeFi Coin are the most recent ones Ive checked out. I looked at your link and saw the first one already near the top, so that probably wont be news for you. That said, I honestly got a bit disappointed with both, so Im not really active there anymore maybe others in the thread can share their experience, Id be curious to read it too.

On Telegram, I don't see any serious & legitimate meme token groups, many of them are filled with bot accounts simply shilling the tokens they hold. As far as I remember, hype of the meme token craze has been over since 2023. That said, it's hard to find good general crypto groups on Telegram now, they're all dead. If you want to find a community that discusses meme tokens better, go to Discord, there are many good communities there.

The memecoin are already dead so why we expect that those telegram group would be alive
But this is not the end. As soon as the altseason trigger (any time in future), the meme hype will be back again and that will be the time when these telegram group will be active again. Anyways most of those groups were used for airdrop scams, bots promos and developers of those memecoins to get fake activity. I don't see anything good about those groups.

Yes, you're right. It will reactivate once the crypto market shows consistent, generally rising prices . So, we just have to wait for the time until the crypto market really gets better.
As for scams, I rarely encounter them, what I often see there now are bots doing guerrilla promotions. I don't think it's all bad, mate. We can also get indirect information from the promotions those bots run.
Those telegram group memecoin, never believe on them before, I disengaged myself in anything that has to do with telegram group
Because they're a lot of scammers, and i believe that so people invest wrongly with the kind of memecoin they discussed with in telegram, so i believe that the ambition of people who promote memecoin in telegram scam, i think that im not mistaken
If you need memecoin, you can check out from exchanges and select your choice based on your verification..
Everyone on Bitcointalk says that Telegram is full of bots and scams. But the same situation exists on Twitter and Discord as well. Discord is not very popular for crypto and usually has low activity.
Telegram is fast and easy to use for communication. On WhatsApp, many strangers also try to add me to random chats, so I wouldnt say that Telegram is bad. Its more of a personal issue if you cant manage your privacy settings on Telegram.
But the original question was about meme coins. Right now, they are barely visible, and almost everything in crypto feels invisible at the moment. Everyone is just watching one mans moves and the Trump-related drama.
Almost all of these messaging apps can be used to scam people related to crypto or not. I have been receiving scam attempts with those messaging apps.
While I'd agree that they can also be useful if used properly, the same goes with Telegram and that's why it's also used by many users and different industries.
Well, it depends and that's what we're being fed right now with the media and so people are looking into geopolitics lately as that's a common interest of the global community.
Because devs pull the rug slowly, and just stop answering. That doesn't mean everyone leaves, as there are always some people still in denial who stay. And there might be moderator, who has been paid in advance and promised to pay full in the end.
And with some groups, i have even seen bots and scammers trying to scam each other on the channel. That's hilarious.
One problem with these groups is, that when you leave, your texts will be part of the history in that channel and scammers might pick your name and contact you, because they think you are still on the channel.
This happened to me. Apparently i said something in a random coin channel that i can't even remember, and got contacted for like a year after by these scammers.
To be fair they were terrible back then and they are terrible right ow as well, it's nothing right now and that is the most important part. I mean there is just the straight up fact that they were terrible scams even back in those days and for some reason people didn't believe others when they were told it was scam and some people really spend days and funds to get some and they lost.
Just do not do that and focus on getting real good results and you will be a lot more profitable somewhere else. These days teelgram turned as a hub of scammers but thanks to privacy settings, I am not getting added to random groups anymore. So, we can choose where to participate and skip at our own due diligence.
2017 was the era of ICO scams a whitepaper, a roadmap, and big promises were enough to raise millions. Most projects had no product, no users, and no accountability.
In 2019, the narrative shifted to IEO scams. People trusted exchanges to vet projects, but many listings were pure cash grabs. Exchange approval became a marketing tool, not a quality guarantee.
By 2023, we saw the rise of memecoin scams. No fundamentals at all just hype, influencers, and FOMO. Utility didnt matter anymore, only attention and fast exits.
So what about 2026?
Most likely AI-related scams.
AI is the perfect next buzzword:
People are gullible enough to fall for that, but they have been for a long time now. Since deep fake actually.
Personally i don't think that 2026 has a buzzword, because it's unlikely that any project is making money, so there will be less investors and less buzz. And 2027 or 2028, it's going to be something new and unforeseen i recon. Or they just recycle old scams, like cloud mining and HYIP. I am certain that NFTs will come back with a with a vengeance. Not that they would be evolved in any way, it's just something that i can see repeating.

Telegram mining apps season has passed already, and nobody is hearing about them any longer. When there was hype, you just going to be seeing different telegram mining games popping out, which most of them turned out to be scam, just few paid well, and some paid rubbish amount of money.
Whenever there is hype, just take advantage of the hype and make money if you can, because you should know its just going to be temporary. If the hype dies, people that bought when there was hype will be losing massively thats why you are not even suppose to hold all this altcoins for long time. If you are involving yourself in altcoins, then just be a trader.
