1) Overview and required accessories (top)
The AvalonMiner 851 is a Bitcoin (SHA-256) ASIC miner that utilizes 16nm ASIC chip tech. It's made by Canaan Creative, headquartered in Beijing, China. This is the third model in the 8th generation AvalonMiner series, featuring the 16nm A3210M Bitcoin ASIC chip.
Its performance and power efficiency are pretty comparable to the A3210HP chip found in the AvalonMiner 841 model.
Keep in mind, the AvalonMiner 851 doesn’t come with an integrated controller. You’ll need an external controller unit like the AvalonMiner Controller or any Raspberry Pi board to operate it. This design lets you connect up to 20 AvalonMiners to one controller, with five miners per each AUC3 converter and up to four AUC3 converters per controller. This can be a cost saver on network setup, especially if you’re running a big mining operation.
The AvalonMiner 851 weighs in at 4.7 kg, and its dimensions are 370mm x 150mm x 136mm. It has a nominal hashrate of 14.5 Th/s (with a variation of -5% to +10%) and a power draw of 1450 W (with a variation of +0% to +20%).
This is a review as well as an installation guide.
