I used this wallet here once, but since then I've had to step away from the crypto scene because of family stuff and work. My old device is gone now and I can't retrieve the notes where I had the wallet info. So I'm wondering if there's a way to recover my old wallet just by using the address? If anyone has experience with this, I'd really appreciate your help. Here's my Bitcoin wallet address: 12ZqFiYFD9qMGCF25dExjayp7hsJHmjGb3 If I can get this wallet back, I’ll keep using it, but if not, I’ll have to set up a new one. Thanks.

You need your seed phrase to have access to your wallet back. Or if you have the wallet file, you can use it for the wallet recovery. You can not use your bitcoin address to get your wallet back.

Charles-Tim is right. You can only use your wallet address to recieve bitcoin and not to retrieve back your wallet. Didn't you write down the seed phrase of the wallet. You can only use your private keys to restore your wallet. Your bitcoin address is generated from your public key and that's why you give it out to receive funds because it's safe. I believe that you don't have any funds in your wallet. Therefore, you should create a new wallet and write down the seed phrase on a piece of paper and make three duplicates. Keep the in three different locations far from each other and keep it safe from third party.

By "wallet faces" you meant seed phrases or wallet backup phrases? Those 12 or 24- words? If yes, then it's possible for you to recover your wallet, and it will include your old Bitcoin address as well, so long as you follow the right derivation path. Alternatively unless, if it's for another purpose, there is no need to reuse your old address if there is no Bitcoin in there. You can always create a new wallet. It doesn't cost a thing.

If everyone can get your Bitcoin wallet only by knowing your Bitcoin (public) address, Bitcoin blockchain is risky and bitcoins are useless as they can be bruteforced easily and stolen by anyone. Fortunately, Bitcoin is very secure and noone can get your bitcoins only through your Bitcoin public address. The flow technically is Bitcoin private key > Bitcoin public key > Bitcoin public address. These flows are one-way and you can not get a Bitcoin public key from a Bitcoin public address, can not get a Bitcoin private key from a Bitcoin public key. Two chapters on Keys and Wallets in Mastering Bitcoin book can help you learning more. https://github.com/bitcoinbook/bitcoinbook/blob/develop/ch04_keys.adoc https://github.com/bitcoinbook/bitcoinbook/blob/develop/ch05_wallets.adoc To recover your wallet, you need its back up that is either a wallet mnemonic seed (sometimes need a passphrase if you add it when creating that wallet) or a Bitcoin private key. This how to backup a seed phrase article can help you understand both wallet backup and wallet recovery.

I'll give you 3 reasons to stop searching and never use this address again: The address doesn't contain any coinsAddress reuse is bad for privacyLegacy addresses give higher transaction feesEasy solution: install Electrum, write down your backup seed phrase (and keep it safe), and use a new Bitcoin address each time. You joined in 2017: big mistake not keeping any Bitcoin!

Yes, you are right man and i understand and thank you very much for your feedback. Honestly it would have been great if I had my old wallet back. But since I don't have the seed phrase. it is not possible to recover it. last time I used that old wallet and all my funds were spent. Since then I have been busy with the work of defending the country, which has diverted my attention from this aspect. Currently, I'm in a job sector and have now created a new wallet. Since I lost the seed phrase of the old wallet and I will not be able to use it anymore. Now, I have saved the seed phrase of the new wallet in several safe places hopefully there will be no more problems in the future. Actually I had written down those 12 seed phrases in a hide place. But after changing my residence and moving to another city, many important documents were lost and including that one. I searched and tried a lot but I could not find the seed phrases. So now it is not possible to get the old wallet back. After much thought, I decided not to worry about it anymore. From now on, I will use the new wallet. After creating it I will send a signed message and submit it here and I have saved the seed phrases properly. Hopefully, this time there will be no more problems. I have tried a lot to find the seed phrase of the old address for the past few days but I did not get any results. Although there are no funds there. I still wanted to get the old wallet back. However that was no longer possible. Thank you for giving me a good idea about using the new wallet. Really you gave me ggod idea and will try to transact with the new wallet now. I also knew a little about Electrum. As per your advice i did more research on it and realized that it would be the safest for me. I came into this world in 2017. At that time.. I missed a big opportunity because I did not hold bitcoin. However, I do not consider it a mistake because I spent my money on family needs and bought some farmland and started farming there. Although farming could not be continued for long because after getting a job in the country's security forces, I could no longer be active on the forum. I'm currently investing a small portion of my salary in bitcoin. know that it will gradually turn into a good savings for me. I'm locking this post because I've pretty much figured out what I wanted to know.
