So, I stumbled upon this post earlier today and honestly, I just can't buy the idea that Claude AI could somehow find the wallet keys. I figured I'd share it here to get some insights from developers. It was already mentioned in another discussion, but didn’t spark the tech talk I was looking for. I really hope this forum can offer some solid thoughts, because if it’s legit, we might be looking at some serious security risks with AI tools.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5583065.msg66726179#msg66726179 You should read this post, the most recent one about this case. He already got his mnemonic seed he just used Claude to recovery his wallet password. So AI can’t actually pose any security risks to someone whatsoever because he also gave AI access to his PC and other informations before the AI could recovery his password.

I don't think that what happened in the thread you referenced was that AI guessed the password just from personality as the Op tried to paint it, instead, I think what the AI did was to reduce the search space. The truth is that a normal brute force attack can take a long time but the moment it can asccess enough personal information like one's favourite words, dates, writing style or probably password patterns, the AI will start by guessing the most likely combinations instead for completely getting it right at random. That's what I think happened there. So if you want to look at it from a technical angle, the weak point here is definitely not Bitcoin itself but the password entropy.

What happened wasn’t Abbracadabra   This was what he typed  on X : He had the answer in a notebook already but couldn’t figure it out, what he couldn’t do was what Claude did. Claude  looked into all encrypted backup files stored on the drive he gave access to  Claude and found an old backup that used the same password (the one inside the notebook) before he changed it to a new one, which he couldn’t remember for an obvious reason. The old backup has the same private keys as the new one. What locked him out was only the new password on a new backup of the same wallet which he has likely been trying to decrypt over the years . I don’t know if it’s all made up but I hope you understand now.

All I know about it is that Claude made the recovery possible with the use of Btcrecover. Possibly the password used for encryption that is needed was brute forced by Btcrecover. Without Btcrecover, Claude would have been unable to recover the wallet for the person. Many people have used Btcrecover to brute force password, passphrase and part of seed phrase for wallet recovery before.

If he found the seed phrase, then why did he need to brute-force the password with Claude? That would only be necessary if the "password" being discussed is actually a 13th word. Doesn't look like the case here because he mentioned he changed the password, which you cannot do with 13th words.

The way I understood it is that he didn't find the seed phrase of the wallet he was trying to access. He did find a seed phrase but that seed phrase was the old decryption password used to unlock his wallet in the past. He changed that password to a new one and forgot what it was. Among the files he dumped into Claude AI was an older wallet file (one he didn't know about or couldn't find himself). The seed phrase he found earlier, which was also the decryption password, unlocked this wallet file that Claude found. That's how he gained access to his wallet again.

The old blocking.info uses encrrypted wallet file wallet.aes.json as backup . Around that 2014 ,2015 as he claimed, it was still blockchain.info so he probably had only the encrypted file before the whole disaster and the Claude magical moment. This dude hooksets got twin  vibes or is it just same person Recovering old Blockchain BTC wallet with only JSON file

If it's  based of trying to guess their passwords, it actually depends on the person. Some people are good are creating strong passwords that contrasts what you could guess about them others can pick easy stuff like their pet names and date of birth.  That aside for see it's a no no. Most AI route and compile information and deliver to you. Recovering a seeds requires you to have some of the words already and then what's left can be brute forced. AI models can't do that they can probably only guide you how to do it.
