Hydro miners seem like the top-notch bitcoin miners out there right now. I've seen a few videos, but one thing has me a bit worried... can you really handle this machine by yourself without screwing something up?
I’ve set up both asic and non-asian miners before, so do you think I can take on an s23hydro solo?
What are the downsides of using a hydro miner? Are there specific things to avoid when running one of these?
If a complete beginner had the funds to get into hydro asic miners, would you being the expert tell them to go for it?
I'm not a professional and haven't used these ASICs, but I'll share my colleagues' experience.
The first problem is that the cooling system is very expensive, as are the components. So my colleagues decided to upgrade it and build their own version using components readily available at a hardware store, eliminating the need for expensive components.
The downside, if you can call it a downside, is that you need good engineers to maintain the ASICs.
OP you need to watch a video just once about hydro miners, merely looking at how that thing works you can't do it on your own without hiring some pro engineers, and it seems like you haven't done this before, who would dare recommend such for a newbie? Everything will go wrong.
The first challenge is the expense of running the miner, follow by the complicated technicality, also as time goes on the miner will need maintenance requirements. I don't recommend this miner compare to air cooling miner, a failure in the cooling loop can lead to a disastrous hardware damage.
To run a air cooled miner is still challeging on it's own, as you can't leave them running and you travel to the next town, you house might turn to ashes before you come back, when it comes to hydro cooling it needs constant monitoring, the checks for leakage here and there, coolant degradation is also on the table, as time goes on flushing will be required to prevent algae growth.
You will regret faster than those who are professional in the job, hydro cooling is not for everybody.
I believe hydrocooling should only be used when you can profit from the heat generated. Options include heating systems, greenhouse heating, and other options that will provide additional ROI.
In Russia, there have long been ready-made solutions for mining boilers using ASICs, heaters, and pool heaters, and they are made from common components that any plumber can buy.
