Hey everyone, I got a simple question about how a Full Node and a Solo Miner talk to each other, just trying to get a clearer picture of how bitcoin mining actually works. Let’s say I’m running a full node on one machine and a solo miner (like cpuminer) on another. How does the miner know when the block it's working on has been mined by someone else? Does the miner need to keep checking in with the node for updates on new blocks? Or does the node automatically notify the miner when a new block is out there? Appreciate any insights, Sandy

miner program (eg. cgminer) have a longpoll_thread which is keeping polling to full-node (eg. bitcoin core) in a speific seocnds. When a new block come out, height of block header is different, then, miner program go to get new block header's data to form a new block header to be hashed out.

Thank-you @jack1cryptotalk007 for the comment, it was really helpful! @NotFuzzyWarm, yes I do agree with you, I am just trying to understand how mining works under the hood. Regards, Sandy
