Quick summary: I stashed actual sats in real beer. You pop the cap, scan it, find out how many sats you’ve won, then snag them into your wallet. Hey everyone, I’m Altan from Germany. Been into Bitcoin for a while and I’m a craft beer enthusiast. English isn’t my first language, so please bear with me. I've got this cool project I want to share: Beer of Satoshi a legit beer with real sats hidden under each cap. The whole idea was to combine the best form of money with something simple and social like enjoying a beer. Here’s how it all began: I came up with the Beer of Satoshi concept at Bitcoin Amsterdam 2024 (around block 865,028). A small group of us was sipping drinks and chatting about how to get more people into Bitcoin. Everyone knows about Bitcoin, but a lot of folks have never touched a sat or done an actual transaction. At one point, I thought, "Why not actually pop some sats into a beer?" Being German and raised in beer culture, it just seemed like a fun way to make Bitcoin less abstract. So, what’s the deal with it? Beer of Satoshi is a limited-edition German lager that rewards you with Bitcoin (satoshis) every time you open a bottle. Under each cap, there’s a QR code. When you crack the beer open and scan that code, it takes you to a site that instantly tells you how many sats you hit the jackpot with. It could be a small amount like 21 sats, something bigger like 2,100, or even up to a whopping 1,000,000 sats. No one knows until it’s scanned, including me. It’s just a fun "drink beer, find sats" vibe.

So it was for real, you made this is voluntary project to give out sats to beer lovers and they git it as a gift while they are enjoying themselves, this has a two ways benefits despite being a personal project, giving sats voluntarily to people for free and taking advantage of the opportunity of doing so to earn more by selling more, because they will be eager to make their try and what it's all about.

This is an amazing initiative! It will surely boost your sales of beer and, no doubt about that, will do a good thing for Bitcoin adoption. I even think that other beer producing companies may follow your example wanting to boost their beer sales too. Just a little advice: Since most people have no idea about what does "1,000,000 sats" mean, write somewhere on the bottle some thing like "Up to $1,000 in Bitcoin!" Again, brilliant initiative! I wish you the best of luck.

That's just a dream come true, really. As I can see on your platform, you also make events and such, but there is no Solo set available as of now, unfortunately

what’s impressive is the project is clearly driven by the sheer desire to spread awareness about bitcoin and be able to give back to the community kind of like a passion project if you will so i know that this will certainly succeed since it’s not driven by greed for money as a bitcoiner,  i’d like to say thank you atlan! i wish you inspire similar projects the fact that people will get a taste (of the beer ) and also how bitcoin transactions work is enough of a statement no matter the amount they get im sure a lot will be impressed with how easy just things are with bitcoin

Would have been great if you share some pictures of the beer cans here yourself. This is a nice initiative you have put together, similar to faucets but you are earning sats for doing an everyday fun activity. How much does it cost to make a can of beer? I assume you need to cost it at just enough to pay for all the rewards. This will mean that some of those who get the lesser reward may consider it expensive. Does the QR code contain tips on how to securely create a wallet for those who do not have any? This oddly looks like an alt created specifically to make the post. - Jay -

Thanks for all the comments. Just dropping a quick reply so I don’t repeat half the thread again: I’ll post some pics of the bottles/caps here later, but if you want the full story + photos + events, the Geyser page has everything: https://geyser.fund/project/bos For anyone who wants more background about how/why I built this, Lightning.news did a really nice article: https://lightning.news/beer-of-satoshi-the-sip-of-the-future/ And if you want to follow the project, see event posts, shipping stuff, bottle-openings etc., the Linktree has all links (shop, socials, website): https://linktree.beerofsatoshi.com If anyone runs a meetup/conference in EU and wants a box or a couple cases, just ping me. I’m trying to bring Beer of Satoshi to as many Bitcoin events as possible. Appreciate all the support and feedback. Cheers, Altan

This is beautiful. It reminds of the campaign Coca Cola is running in my country. Share a coke. Where there's a code on the CAP. you can scan and place your number for a card I guess in this case it's Bitcoin address. Quick question, Does the Sales price cover for the cost? Because from the distribution rate, it sure would cost more than an average Beer.

Your idea is awesome! As a beer lover myself, I can only agree. I’m sure that in the (far) future this will become the norm for any game that requires a purchase. No more scanning a QR code to get a coupon on some website we could just have a QR code with sats instead! Alright, time for me to grab a beer🍻🍺

Rarely the longest piece of write up that was worth reading. Your motivation to share bitcoins in sats to those who are yet to own some of the coins is a rare proactive approach. Was wondering why you did not provided the website link for readers to click and check what it looks like. While reading on, I was asking myself why beer? Will it not make people want to consume it excessively just to get some free sats, why not something else other than beer, then I came to where you talked about about what prompted the use of beer in promoting bitcoin and it made sense. Bravo mate.

I love the idea for creating beer with Bitcoin designs that gives sats reward. And because of limited number of bottles ever produced this is going to be a cool collectibles item. If I understand correctly shipping is only available to Europe including United Kingdom, is that correct? Can this be consider as craft beer produced in small brewery?

Short answer: yes, the beer price is set so it covers everything: brewing, bottling, packaging and deposit, the pre‑funded sats poolVAT + beer duty + logistics, and the 2.1% of revenue we donate back to Bitcoin projects. What’s left is a pretty modest margin so the project is sustainable and I can keep doing events / future batches. It’s definitely more expensive than generic mass‑market beer, but roughly in line with specialty or small‑batch craft beers – with the twist that every bottle also throws some sats back at you.

For the first post I cared more about explaining the idea and vision than dropping a bunch of links, so I left them out on purpose at the start. You’re right though – it’s useful for people to be able to click through directly, so I’ve edited the OP and added the main links now. Thanks for the nudge.

The UK is included. We basically ship to all of Europe except Cyprus. Everything else in the EU, CH + the UK works fine through the shop. And on the beer itself: yes, I’d consider it craft. It’s brewed in Germany as a dedicated small-batch recipe for this project, not just a relabelled macro beer. The whole Genesis run is only 27,140 bottles, so it definitely fits the craft / limited edition category.

this is such a cool project man i love how youre making bitcoin feel real and not just some digital thing on a screen by sticking sats in beer its genius because beer is something everyone gets its social and fun like at a party you pop one open scan the cap and boom you got some sats even if its just a few it gets people excited and trying lightning for the first time without feeling like a lesson i think this could really help adoption especially for folks who hear about btc but never touch it cause its intimidating props for open sourcing the code too shows its legit and not some scam keep stacking those sats with brews wish i could grab a pack but im not in eu maybe next batch goes global cheers dude.

That’s exactly the effect I was hoping for: make Bitcoin feel like something you can literally hold in your hand at a party and try without a big “now sit down and learn” lecture. Right now shipping is Europe only, mainly because of alcohol rules and import pain. If I ever manage to make a non-EU distribution work without the bottles costing crazy money after customs, I’d love to go more global. Thanks again to everyone for the feedback and ideas – it all helps shape what I do next with this.

This is definitely a great initiative and I think your idea can bring more atmosphere to the purchase of the beer you produce and it is not impossible that this condition will increase some of the producers not only beer to do the same. I'd like to try to buy but it's just not feasible because it's too far away so maybe I'd like to see some people who are able to buy show their luck in this thread Although some might consider this as entertainment but buying beer at a fairly cheap price (when looking at the site you inserted) and of course with Satoshi's surprise in it would be an interesting thing.

I like your creative mindset. You made it easy for the average person to be able to get to these sats, all they need to do is get a bottle of beer and at a cheep price for that matter. You are really invested in making this Bitcoin adoption thing work because even though some would get these beers for the free sats, I'm sure there are people who would want to start getting orange pilled after this. Good job and I'm really loving the initiative. It's just a shame that I won't be able to participate in this because it's far from my country but good luck to those who are able to benefit.

A very innovative idea of promoting Bitcoin, especially for those who like to drink beer I'm more of a wine drinker, but I'd love to try a special beer like this, considering that in a way, everyone who drinks this beer has a chance to win a nice prize. I checked the conditions of sending and I see that you do not send to PO Boxes, but does that perhaps exclude physical branches of private post offices such as this one?
