Right now, Indonesia is rolling out a plan to tackle inflation, manage the currency situation, and keep an eye on both local and global economic factors, along with fighting corruption. The Finance Minister is working on a bill to change the value of the Rupiah from 1000 to 1.
As mentioned in the source, by 2027, you won’t see any 1000 notes in Indonesia anymore, it will just be 1 and so on.
I’m thinking the law for this redenomination of the rupiah will be wrapped up by 2027.
• So what’s gonna happen with crypto exchanges and crypto casinos? Are there gonna be changes in the amounts we see?
• Will everything related to crypto assets also switch from 1000 to 1?
Because as it stands, crypto exchanges are still dealing with values in the 1000 range, not 1. I reckon everything will shift in 2027, from exchanges to crypto casinos and fiat too.
I really believe the government’s moves to stabilize the economy are spot on. This redenomination feels like a solid and smart choice, and with the new Finance Minister, I’m optimistic about Indonesia’s economic future.

Indonesia wants to join Iran in removing zeros from their currencies

Currency Redenomination is now the way countries are going to control inflation, currency devaluations, economic depression.
Ghana was facing mission impossible to save their currency back then and they showed up using this method and cut some zeros from their currency and comparing what they are now to then it helped them.
But it is not a permanent solution.
Not right away but there have to just change to fit the new system of the country. Changes like this are difficult, I remember when my country had an inadvertent change of currency note. People of Indonesia will scramble a bit to adjust.
I am curious to learn how this is going to solve the crisis of their national fiat because they are not changing anything, but only removing the zeros. It could bring opposite results if people are repulsive about this move and a lot of expense will be needed to print new paper money and the system in everything needs to be changed from your bank to a local grocery store.
