Is it smart to power down my miners occasionally?

Hey folks, I’m curious about maintaining my miners’ lifespan. I usually shut them down for about an hour every couple of days. Is that actually beneficial? I’m on the fence about it. Would love to hear your experiences with this. I have a couple of Avalon 851s.

As far as I know turning on and off the devices harm the circuits more than keeping them on all the time. As long as you keep them in optimal environment conditions (like low dust and temperature) there shouldn't be any problems. Your home's electricity must be stable too. If the voltage is volatile, that would fuck your devices up also.

Keep them on. The thermal cycling from repeatedly letting them cool down and then heat up again will stress the solder joints and chip/heat sink interfaces.
