Just putting in hours won't make you rich anymore

Back in the day, we all believed that hard work meant success. But these days, it's not really like that anymore because everything's changing. You can think of working extra hours as hard work, but with wages being what they are, it's clear that pay often doesn't reflect the effort. Plus, with the economy in such a rough spot, expenses are definitely outpacing what people earn from their jobs. Sure, hard work can boost productivity, but the real cash usually goes to the owners, while workers might only see a small pay bump. This brings me to my main point: real wealth comes from owning things like businesses, property, or stocks, not just from grinding away. The system's shifting, and income from ownership is on the rise. Hard work will get you part of the way there, but honestly, it's no longer sufficient. If you want to build real wealth, you gotta think about ownership!

Those richest men, do you think they are not hardworking people? If you can know what they are doing throughout the day in one week, you will see how they are also working hard. There will be some rich people that do not sleep fast just because they want everything to be in good sharp for their businesses not to turn into something they will not like. I understand your point because those that work most are not rich or not rich up to wealthy people, intelligence is very important if you want to make money, but hardwork is a necessity if you want to make it in life.

However, not all people can afford to start a business of their own and gain ownership. Most of them will strive hard first and combine hard work with smart work so that opportunities like promotion and higher pay rise will be available for them. Your goal ignites motivation, and with motivation comes with hard work and consistency, until the target goal will be within easy reach. Still, hard work is essential for life's success and wealth accumulation. But one should not stop there, talent, skills and strategy are as vital as hard work itself.

I think just hard work will not suffice, it is important but being smart about your work is also important. You have to be smart how you manage your connections you time and then you will see productivity going up. But this is difficult in the initial phase of life. And wealth is not always going to be linked to work. Salary is part of the wealth but if investments, spending are not kept in proper lines, wealth will never grow. Invest in the proper places, proper assets and see yourself going upwards in life.

Hard work is very important to everyone that want to succeed in life and anyone that think hard work does not guarantee success did not understand how to succeed in life, those rich people we see today and want to become like them start from hard work and their hard work is a the reason why they did not failed to succeed in the end, no any rich people you will see that is very rich to the extent of owning a company or business can succeed if they did not believe in their hard work. To even know that rich people are working more than the poor people is that you will never see them resting or sleep like poor people because they travel around and work hard to make sure they keep going, although some people will come from rich families but no matter how rich you are if you don’t know how to work hard to continue build your business or work you will not succeed.

In the past? Yes work hard. Today? Work smart. With how the current society is becoming more devastating for the coming generation. Only the smart one's will be able to survive and make something out for themselves. So many people have been on jobs for years that has only paid them salary which will not be able to pay for their bills but how do they cope? The smart one's don't sit still. They get their hands into different activities so they can meet up with today kind of society.

Hard work can pay off, but you need to be in the right sectors for it. Manual labor jobs these days have a lot of competition and foreign workers are often finding their way into these jobs, plus there is also the danger that companies are trying to automate them away as much as possible. However it you are a super efficient and creative programmer who enjoys their work for the right sort of business - it can really be a good time. Same goes for other professions like dentists and doctors, who can bank hard with overtime if they are willing to pick up the extra hours. There is a lot of money out there for the taking, but not every business will reward workers so you have to move around.

Look at your current position, are you already one of the rich people? if yes, you really don't need to work hard, you just need to take advantage of your current wealth by managing it into investment, you just need to sleep because your money is making money back, but the big question is when you get all that, is it not through hard work? this is the point of reality, when you want to build glory you need to work hard, work day and night just to collect little by little wealth or look for other opportunities. There is no rich person who really does not go through hard work first even if that person becomes rich because of inheritance maybe they also still need to work hard to maintain that wealth, a few examples of Elon Musk, even though he was born from wealthy people, he still worked hard to build his business to become what it is now, or Jack Ma who built a business from scratch. Maybe even today their sleeping hours are not better than ours. The point is that working hard is like a foundation, and your intelligence will bring you to glory.

Just as it is not right to become rich by working hard, it is also not right to become rich without working hard. To become rich, that is, to achieve success, one has to work hard in the right way at the right time. One has to be disciplined in work. There are many construction workers in my area who work day and night, but due to their lack of skills, they are unable to go from poor to rich. Again, there are some skilled people who are using their skills and are rising to the peak of progress through hard work. In fact, to achieve success in life, one has to work hard in addition to being skilled.

Hard work never meant success. This is like a Marx idea. Some professions do pay more than others. Some professions wont even get you hired.... Unfortunately,  you need to choose well your professional decisions, and then work hard

Hard work alone isn't always enough. It can get you somewhere, but it doesn't necessarily make you well off. You also need to be smart, adaptable, and willing to innovate, lastly, consistency. Building wealth usually comes from combining those, putting in the work, thinking strategically, and creating opportunities beyond just earning a salary. For many, that means eventually starting something of their own or finding ways to scale their income, not just relying on effort alone.

Hardwork alone is just the catalyst to success, not just the only requirement because there must be a skilled way to handle your job to be efficient and productive and successful in the end. In this current 2026, the setting is shifting from mainly just hardwork to smart work where some necessary skills are demanded and a system should b built in order to maintain discipline before success must be attained. Work hard to accumulate funds and then use intelligence and smart moves to diversify the funds into reasonable asset that would be profitable and productive. That's the real wealth multiplier.

I don't think that works even before now, do your findings about the rich folks and find out how many successful wealthy people that comes from nothing, they are few in numbers. Most of the rich and successful folks somehow had a booster, such background that push as advantage over their peers. Some of the old folks did more than what some of the successful folks did and they are not half where the wealthy class are and that's because of that advantage. Today, it has gotten worse. Everywhere you can think of is saturated and you know why? We have monopolize everything today. Let me use tesla as example for you; this company produce electric cars, this same company is the parent company that bought X from Twitter, this company has a child company as internet service provider, there are many places they have dominate, this has made it difficult for small people to compete. I just get to know that openAI that everyone was evaluating to be multi billion dollar company part was funded by Elon Musk, I just laugh.

But I would say that saying hard work doesn’t work is not right. Because now the game has changed, it is not just about working for hours, where you work is important, Suppose someone works the same 10 hours, one person only gets a salary, another person uses that skill to create a small source of income online, gradually that becomes an asset. And ownership is definitely a big factor but even reaching that point requires hard work in the beginning. I think that now if hard work and smart decisions are not combined, the results will not come. It is not just about working, but how the work can be used in the future is the real thing.

If we speaking about hard work in my country factories employee or construction workers can working more hours than other people that because these workers can working for 12 hours per days or even until 14 hours per days so, if hard work is the main requirements how to be rich i think these people should be richer than us but in fact they have to struggle for their life and even mostly they are still poor and to gets wealth besides the opportunities i think the luck also the main factor too besides that some people have not necessary to work more hard to earn money because born rich and those who born poor i think being rich is almost impossible for them even if anyone who born poor can gets wealth and becomes rich i think these people have more luck than other people which is very rare to happend

Hard work isn’t the only solution but in most cases hard work  has always proven to get people to unimaginable heights. In the journey, there’s nothing like only hard work, it doesn’t work that way. You need more than just hard work to achieve beyond your goals . Not everyone who works very hard will become successful, some do not even do 1/4 of that hard work to achieve success. Wealth is always built, how long it takes differs for everyone seeking to build a wealth.

Sure, and I can says that to get wealth 80 to 90% he will be your hard work that will give you the opportunity. Because you can't just stay in one place without doing anything and says you will become wealth the next day your hard work most show first before any other thing to follow at back. How can you know that hardworking don't really makes someone successful anymore, people are learning everyday and having some experience to no how to build wealth. They have others that don't go through hardships and they become wealth but they have other people go through hard way and make them enjoy the benefits but in real life nothing comes easy you need to work well before getting what your praying for.

Not everyone who has amassed vast wealth was born into it; most of them started out as hardworking individuals. For those who are already considered wealthy with substantial assets, the saying “hard work ensures success”—which is often seen as no longer applicable—is not universally accepted; perhaps the saying holds a different meaning for different groups of people. Hard work has evolved into smart work. Smart work can also be interpreted as hard work.

Although the world is moving towards progress now, the proverb you mentioned has not changed yet. And the guarantee of success through hard work will never change. However, it can be said that you cannot succeed even if you work hard without using your intelligence. You have to work hard using your intelligence, only then is it possible to succeed.

You are right and people need to understand this so they don't have to be thinking that only hard work will help them to become successful in life. A lot of us must have made this mistakes in the past and we are just realizing it now when everything is already revolving quietly. Going to school to get a degree has been the pattern to get a good job and getting paid huge salaries while life was been easy for you once you have a degree. Everything have changed now even if you graduated with first class, it is not sure that you can get a well paying job that will change your story forever. People are now getting well paying jobs with connections while some are selling their bodies to get big contracts from big firms. Everything has totally changed and corruption is becoming a lifestyle.
