In our society, law and morality are both super important. They might be separate concepts but they really influence each other and work together to create harmony. But what happens when they clash? How should we make our choices and find a balance?
Law is basically a set of rules made by the government, with clear guidelines and strict limits. Its main goal is to keep things fair and stable, while also protecting everyone’s rights and duties. But sometimes, laws can get tricky when they bump into ethical issues. Take for instance, some laws could go against what most people see as moral or they might create debates when they’re put into practice.
On the flip side, morality is more about what we personally believe and what society generally agrees on. It’s not something that can be enforced legally, but it definitely has a big influence. Morality helps guide us towards making good choices and encourages social progress. But it’s not all straightforward either. Since everyone might have different moral views, reaching a common agreement can be tough.
So, when laws and morals don’t align, what should we do? Personally, I think we should follow these guidelines:
1. Honor the law: Laws are essential for keeping order in society, so we should respect them. Even if some laws clash with our moral views, rather than breaking the law, we should share our thoughts through the proper legal channels.
I will still allow myself to quote these wonderful words:
Did you really think we want those laws observed?" said Dr. Ferris. "We want them to be broken. You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against... We're after power and we mean it... There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted and you create a nation of law-breakers and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Reardon, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with.

If law and morality are not in line and conflict, of course you can act and choose what is good and bad, in general that is where you will challenge yourself morally and the behavior and decisions that must be taken.
Indeed, the law can be considered a binding rule or a law that has been confirmed, meaning that it is difficult for you to go against it, but if the law does not get justice, Of course, according to Morality, you can judge whether the law is fair and positive or unfair and negative, here you can judge whether it is good or bad whether the law is being implemented well or is contradictory.
In my opinion, if the law is contrary to morality, there is no need to respect it, if the legal decision is unfair, even though the law is a law that has been confirmed, morally we can still judge by seeking justice by considering morally.
Often in contemporary societies, law prevails over morality. In an era that is more inclined towards materialism, laws always prevail over morality.
Often the ruling authorities set laws in a way that suits their interests, and they do not care much whether this conflicts with the general morals of society or not. Do you think that these few ruling groups that formulate laws according to their interests will really care whether they are compatible or conflict with the morals of society? I'm sure the answer is that they don't care at all.
This may happen in some rare cases that do not pose a threat to their interests or in cases that turn into issues of public opinion.
I absolutely agree with this.Laws are written by the winners or those who buy the people who write these laws. Morality will be the last thing on people's minds when they realize what these corrupt laws have led to.
