Hey everyone,
I'm on the hunt for a forum where I can connect with others about fresh ideas for cryptocurrency projects.
this forum is pretty limited with its Altcoins section, which mostly has folks just chatting about trading random coins. Plus, this section is mainly focused on innovations tied to Bitcoin itself.
What I really want is to dive into discussions about creative crypto implementations, like they did back in the early days before crypto blew up.
Any suggestions for good forums?
Thanks!
Tony
I don't know any other forum but I thought in this forum you can discuss anything related to cryptocurrency. You are right, there are discussions about shitcoins, nonsense arguments but if you are intellectual and your posts has value for others then you will always find similar intellectual members in your topic.
I think first you need to try to create your own topic, make it informative and let others to develop the discussions. A group discussion always brings new ideas.
Try creating a thread in the Dev & Tech board, but avoid mentioning or shilling altcoins. For example, do you think that "Full-Chain Membership Proofs Development" is worthy of discussion? Fine. Create a thread and talk about it, but don't make it seem exclusive for Monero. If you're looking for a pro-Monero group to discuss with, then head towards their ANN thread. (In that case, this thread.)
In "the olden days" the Altcoin Discussion forum here at Bitcointalk was quite a good place to discuss these topics. While Proof of Stake was proposed here in the Development & Technical Discussion subforum, the concept is from 2011 and thus predates the altcoin subforum, and discussion then moved to the altcoin forum once it was established.
If you go back to the first threads in mid-late 2011 in the Altcoin forum, while there were a lot of threads about specific altcoins ("SolidCoin" for example, and NMC, later LTC), every now and then some (crazy or less crazy) ideas popped up, like this or this. I believe also the concept of "Stablecoins" originated there.
I would appreciate a subforum "Blockchain technology" or "Cryptocurrency technology" for all threads about technology not specific to Bitcoin but also not specific to some altcoin. This could even increase the relevance of this forum for the non-Bitcoin crypto sector again, because there seem to be few neutral and high-quality spaces to discuss these things. The only other place I really know is the CryptoCurrency Reddit. And maybe Altcoinstalks but what I've seen there was much shallower.
Personally I have no problems with such threads showing up here (as long as no shilling is involved) but some seem to do.
This should work fine, if OP start a discussion about the technical side of the implementation and not about the coin by itself then he can get some feedback from the community about the topic.
I don't think this site is the wrong place for that discussion, here you have the right people to talk about the project, but you need to use the tool wisely to get into the topic and to bring the users' attraction to your thread.
