I created a mining script to run on my slow computer just for kicks. I've yet to find or submit any shares to the pool, but my setup is constantly busy receiving tasks and hashing. Can anyone point me to a solo mining pool where I can tweak the difficulty and actually manage to find shares while running at 3 MH/s? Also, if I never submit a share to a pool but somehow hit the jackpot and find a block, do I miss out on the reward?

Yes, you don't get any reward when you never submit any share.
