Hey folks.
English isn't my first language, but I’ll do my best to get my point across.
I'm not sure if this topic is super relevant, so feel free to move it if needed.
I'm interested in making an altcoin using Bitcoin Core for some testing and research purposes. The thing is, I’m kinda lost on the steps to take.
I’ve looked around a bit and even asked AI, but no luck so far.
If anyone has some advice or can steer me in the right direction, I’d really appreciate it.

so you wan to create a new coin similar to bitcoin and call it something else? or you wan to launch a coin on bitcoin?
I don't know the exact difference. I want to change its name, symbol, and supply. It should actually have a separate blockchain (in terms of database).

Use the Bitcoin Testnet.
Hi there,
I can help you with that Ive created multiple altcoins based on Bitcoin Core before and have extensive experience in customizing, configuring, and deploying blockchain networks for testing and research purposes.
I can set up your altcoin, configure nodes, adjust consensus rules, and prepare the full environment within 3 days.
If youd like, we can discuss your specific requirements (name, block time, initial supply, difficulty adjustment, etc.) so I can get started right away.
Best regards,
Mykhailo Savchuk
There are so many guide (and services) to create altcoin that forked from Bitcoin Core code. Here's example guide on this forum, *** Complete Guide on How to Create a New Alt Coin Update 2019 ***.
About 8 years ago i was fed up with the constant stream of new altcoins that got created, pumped and dumped (leaving many bagholders that lost their lifesavings).
In order to prove my point (that you shouldn't just jump into buying altcoins without doing your homework), i create a working dash clone... If i remember, i had to edit a couple dozen of lines in order to get it running... Took me a couple of hours, and hopefully proved my point that anybody can create a clone with minimal time and effort.
Here's the sourcecode: https://github.com/mocacinno/mocacoin/
You can look at the commits and see what i did in order to create a clone of DASH, it took me ~50 commits, but IIRC a lot of them were unnecessary to achieve the actual goal (comments, cosmetic stuff, documentation,icons,...)
Don't ask me why i made certain changes, the last time i even looked at this repo was 8 years ago, my memory isn't good enough to remember what and why i created those changes
Hello dear friend.
Do you get paid for this?
If you can help, I would be grateful.
