I've noticed that many mining pools are exposing the full wallet addresses of miners. Personally, I always believed that this info should be kept private and shortened for security reasons. A buddy of mine who also mines and runs a pool said it’s no big deal and that I’m overthinking it. What do you all think about this? Short version: bcv8934j935v8j......30bv949030b340 OR full address: bcv8934j935v8j2v0mv67m30bv949030b340

There are so fair amount of BTC mining pool out there, so you always have option to choose different once. Although few pool require you to create account (or even have optional/mandatory KYC) which is worse for privacy in different aspect. Anyway, i'll remind you that such privacy issue can be reduced if you use an address only for mining on particular mining pool.

And with any explorer that does firstbits lookups it really does not matter. https://www.walletexplorer.com can find most wallets with just the 1st 6 characters not counting the 1 or the bc1q or whatever. -Dave

A pool can hide miners' addresses, but it can't hide its own address or its payouts to miners. I think if someone wanted to find all the addresses that received rewards on the pool, they could easily do so.
