Hey everyone I need to find a lawyer who's knowledgeable about the crypto market. I'm dealing with a serious issue related to Poloniex and haven't had any luck getting assistance from the SEC or other agencies. Has anyone been in a similar situation?

Experience with what, exactly? Kind of hard to answer that if we don't know what happened between you and Poloniex. There are online legal advice services like LegalZoom, but I have no idea how reliable they actually are. If it's a big problem concerning a large amount of money, you should probably spare no expense as far as advice goes -- look for one in your area.

Or maybe you can move your questions to the right board, Legal. You can look for the move topic button (bottom left of the page).

Its best to look for a law firm on your country. I think there's the same story before that his funds were freezed by an exchange and he got helped from a lawyer to claim it. I can only help you of searching and this is what I've found --> https://thecryptolawyers.com/ Try to negotiate them.

You could describe your situation better. That could help to help you. There are almost none crypto lawyers yet, too soon to be profitable to specialize in that.

If Bitcoin is legal in your country then you will no longer need a lawyer to help you but you will just go directly to the authorities because the government is oblige to help their citizens as we are all paying Bitcoin tax for them so that we will be protected from any crypto currencies concern therefore rest assured that you will not be alone of this type of trouble against poloniex exchanges.

Unless you are a citizen from The USA, the SEC is not going to help you with anything since outside the country it has no power. You should better look for someone from your country or the country where the company is located but not the SEC. Ans since Poloniex is located in the Delaware state... good luck. Btw, the office is a virtual office so in case you wanted to give it a visit, you won't find anyone to talk with

Poloniex is a Massachusetts based company and if my intuition is correct, you may be facing issues with identity verification and your funds are locked out due to this reason. SEC won't help because it is sEC who imposed such regulations on every US based crypto exchanges! You don't need a crypto lawyer. Go to any lawyar and create a charge of "unlawful confiscation of property/security" against them. That will do! However, if you need some legal help and looking for an expert in crypto matter, get in touch with Cryptokanoon group. It is an India based crypto lawyer group who can at least help you to build the charge. Their email id is "contact@cryptokanoon.com". Hope this helps!

What lawyer you need, if you have a lawyer how they will answer it. I think you should ask Poloniex if you have a complaint, don't bring a lawyer.

I think there will not be of much help with the lawyer. The entire crypto world is anonymous. Poloniex is a US-based cryptocurrency exchange platform .So try to hire a lawyer from there who knows local rules or familiar with US judiciary systems. Hiring a lawyer from any other countries wont do any help.

Correct, even hiring up a lawyer that do resides on your place it wont really give any solutions at all and you would just need funds to cope up with the expense you would used up (consultancy+travel etc). Hiring up a lawyer on where Poloniex is based but expect to ready some funds if you decide to fight of on whats the issue between poloniex and you.

Don't want to knock you down so soon, but you might have signed off your rights simply by using Poloniex, as it implies that you accept and agree to their Terms of Service. I personally think it's unethical and illegal, but apparently, the law allows businesses to ask its customers to waive these rights when they use their services. F'd up, but that's how it is. If you still want to engage someone, please ensure they see this TOS first: https://poloniex.com/terms/ Specifically, the opening line in upper case: "THESE TERMS OF USE CONTAIN A BINDING ARBITRATION CLAUSE AND CLASS ACTION WAIVER THAT IMPACT YOUR RIGHTS ABOUT HOW TO RESOLVE DISPUTES."

You know what, rather than looking for a lawyer because from your tone, it sure sounds like you are looking to sue maybe because of the way you have been treated. But the best way is to lay bare what is going on and you might be surprised someone might have gone through the same thing as yours and would be able to advise you accordingly without the need of going through the hassles of lawyers. Except the lawyer is a friend of yours be ready to part away with huge funds under the guise of consultancy fee and hourly billables.

If you're in trouble or being scam you will look for justice and because its anonymous and decentralized, people might think that it will is beyond justice, but because you have right of  personal possession and privacy you have the right to sue every one according to your rights, and you  can find a good lawyer about that but it would entail big money.

Well I think if crypto is legal in your country it might not be hard, but if it isn't perhaps you'd better see some help in the internet that might give you much more information since crypto is also alive in internet. Just tell the situation, because I don't get what your problem is, and how it should be treated.

What is your problem with Poloniex exchange? Did your assets gone? Problem with exchanges are tough because of anonymous transactions that we need  a lot of identifications for a certain claim and i think there is no lawyer that have master the law of Crypto currency by field therefore any lawyer will do. Just choose the best lawyer in the town and they will study your case as long as you have the money for their services.

Looking for a lawyer online will be a big mistake, chances are what you are talking isn't even a lawyer in the first place. If you seek for legal consultation going to what is locally available is the best thing you can do. With claims to Poloniex I don't think that you need a lawyer who has a specialty in the crypto market as you are complaining against a company and all lawyers can handle cases involves with that just as long as you hire someone capable representing you with what you want to do.

I don't know why some people do really ask for help on finding online lawyers which they can eventually seek out locally. If you are on a desperation on looking out for one would lead out into being scammed as being said you might able to find faked ones. Filing up complaint on poloniex seems like to be a very long process and if op have the money to fight then its his choice.
