So, the FBI hit up Polymarket CEO Shayne Coplan's place in Manhattan early Wednesday. This happened just a week after the betting platform nailed Donald Trump's surprise win. Apparently, they woke him up at 6 a.m. in his Soho apartment, demanding his phone and other electronics. A source close to the situation shared this info. The source said it’s just terrible political drama. They could’ve easily asked his lawyer for what they needed instead of making a big show of it for the media, clearly to push a political agenda. Coplan didn’t get any explanation for the raid, but the source thinks it may be payback since Polymarket correctly predicted Trump's win over Kamala Harris when other polls didn’t. There's also chatter that the government might be riding the wave of liberal media claims that Polymarket is up to some market manipulation and fixing polls to favor Trump.

The FBI has not given any statement about the raid of the home and seizure of his phones and other electronic gadgets. Thus we can just speculate that is a political witch-hunt because of Polymaket's accurate predictions of the outcome of the elections. There have been reports that the organization engaged in trade manipulations which have not also been proved. Polymaket services are not open to the US market but we cannot set aside the possibility of people using VPN to access their services. Just like Elon Musk and Brian Armstrong, I think the timing of this raid might imply that it is politically motivated.

According to some articles however is that he is one of Kamala's campaign donors. So why should he be manipulating Trump's victory? But if he gains a lot of money from this bet as pretty sure he has the data to see it coming, then he could have been manipulating and proffitted too. FBI must have been monitoring who he had been talking with that's why his phone was confiscated but most probably this is also seizing his assets.

I don't know how the laws work in the US, but does the FBI have the right to seize Shayne Coplan's phone and electronic devices without a warrant? They haven't even filed any official charges against him!! They certainly don't have any evidence against him, otherwise they would have issued an official arrest warrant against him and filed an official charge against him. I also don't think it's political revenge because as far as I know Shayne Coplan doesn't have a political position, but maybe after this incident Trump is thinking about taking him to some position

Source From the above information, the FBI only needs a search warrant issued by a magistrate or a subpoena from a grand jury to get evidence from Shayne Coplan. And if they can prove that his phones and other electronic device will help them in pursuing this case, they acted within the law. Filling a charge before gathering information can lead to the distortion or destruction of evidence.
