Just saw the official tweet about this. Can't recall the last time a big company jumped on the Bitcoin payment train like this... it's refreshing to see. Still not sure if they're going for lightning network, on-chain, or a mix of both. Fingers crossed more businesses follow suit!

This is a great direction we heading to atleast we have another firm planning on accepting bitcoin for payments. I will be leaning more towards lightning network since its a foodchain for faster and cheaper transactions And not many would want to pay two dollar plus for a steak as fee Maybe they might accept onchain too for larger purchase and simplicity.

This fast food chain is quite popular in the U.S., right? Based on my research, there are 436 locations in the U.S. and 21 internationally, totaling 457 locations. This likely indicates a higher number of Bitcoin users, especially since Donald Trump supports cryptocurrency, including Bitcoin. So, that's great news and should positively great impact on the market. Is there any update on whether this will be on-chain or if they will be using the Bitcoin network directly?

A last time, it could be Tesla and it triggered Bitcoin soaring over $50,000 in the last market cycle. I only remember Tesla and I believe that it was a latest big company accepting Bitcoin for payments, but it happened years ago, not in this market cyle. https://edition.cnn.com/2021/02/08/investing/bitcoin-price-today-tesla Not only Lightning Network, I also hope that there will be acceptance on Bitcoin sidechains from big companies. In fact paying for fast food with Bitcoin may not be new to us, as Laszlo Hanyecz was the first to use Bitcoin for fast food in 2010. Everyone knows that he bought that pizza with the first 10,000 bitcoins. Then we can give a few examples of outlets in different countries that have accepted Bitcoin now or in the past. For example Pizza Hut in Venezuela has already started accepting Bitcoin, while McDonald's in Switzerland has also accepted Bitcoin. Even US President Trump used Bitcoin for fast food, which I noticed. It is truly amazing that more than 15,000 restaurants in France accept payments via cryptocurrency. This might be a big help for them. When I searched about how big the company is, I found something different. I didn’t expect that they also went through tough times and had to close many of their stores. Evolving Steak ‘n Shake Has Closed 200 Locations Since 2018 Well, this isn’t something new... I believe a lot of restaurants already accept Bitcoin. But it’s still good news, because every step like this helps push the mass adoption we’re all aiming for.

Never heard of this restaurant or whatever it is until now. It's always good to hear this sort of stuff though it would be awesome if big dogs like KFC, McD etc offered popular crypto payment methods. It's honestly quite odd that many popular establishments aren't providing popular crypto payment methods considering how stable they have been in recent years and negligible fees.

It was possible to immediately add a picture to a tweet (for the lazy, follow the links). Steaktoshi - and their marketing department knows how to attract bitcoiners. Well, bitcoiners, have you waited for the opportunity to buy a cup of coffee burger for BTC? To me, this looks like a good advertising move by the fast food chain. It is unknown how long their initiative will last. It is curious whether they will continue to accept bitcoin as payment during the bearish trend, which is inevitable. Also, this tweet doesn't say whether they will accept btc directly or if btc will be converted into dollars by a third party when paying (which is most likely what will happen). In general, we need to wait until the 16th and find out from the 1st persons who have tried it. Has anyone from the forum planned a visit to this snack bar joint next weekend to test the possibility of buying a burger for bitcoin? We are waiting for a report.

I checked and can not see that they have an office here in my country, it would have been very convenient and okay for me to go straight to their outlet to get some, as my country has already legalized bitcoin, but all the same, I will place an order soonest so I can have a taste of it. Maybe my countrymen in the Bitcoin community would like it too.

Always good to see big companies start to adopt Bitcoin as payment for good & services. As a European I am unfamiliar with this company but if you say it’s good I’m in. Presumably it’ll be via LN as we all know the problems for companies using on chain for goods being traded, confirmations just take too long. Any way, every company that gets orange pilled increases adoption so let’s be happy with this one.

This is absolutely one of the best news, indeed more adoption is coming for crypto. In the future I believe business will accept bitcoin and crypto as means of payment.

So what’s the process here? How can someone successfully pay with Bitcoin? Does it follow the usual rule that there should be at least one confirmation before the transaction is considered successful? Or are they using a third-party service for faster transactions? Because if it still needs a confirmation, maybe only a few people would use it. I actually see this as good news, but I don’t think it’s impactful enough for people to prefer Bitcoin over cash or bank cards.

That's pretty cool. They have several locations in Las Vegas so will pay a visit to one next time I'm there and try out the bitcoin payment. The food looks pretty good too. It would be a good idea to call ahead to ask how the bitcoin payment works.

Well, if this becomes a successful implementation then more establishments will surely do the same as well. If not Bitcoin, there might be some companies in the future that will accept other altcoins out there particularly those that has a fast transaction speed maybe like SOL, or DOGE??? Bottomline is, it's good to see a huge company integrating crypto payments. I hope that this will be a success so that more companies will follow it or at least will make it better. Based on what I saw in the past in different videos, they are using QR code to pay, and as long as the receiver saw that the transaction has been done, since it's irreversible, they'll just wait on it before it goes through their wallet. Correct me if I'm wrong though, but that's what I know.

Definitely a good move, they got good marketing exposure as well from this alone. I think right now is the best time to adopt bitcoin ever, large company should also follow this path, come on amazon and others. Can't wait for the day when I can pay amazon with bitcoin and not using credit card . They could literally just use existing gateway like the one provided by coinbase and binance and be done with it. Even better if they accept it directly.

Truly, i believe this will also encourage many other establishments to consider the use of bitcoin as part of their acceptable payment currency, since in todays era, you will hardly discover having a customer who does not have bitcoin currency in his portfolio and most of them will be willing to make payment in btc, the entire world are now coming to identify why bitcoin should not be taken for granted and the naysayers are getting fewer while bitcoin adoption rate in getter bigger.

It's a tiny company so they can implement things like this more easily. Lets face it there are 6 or 7 states that have more McDonalds then Steak N Shake has total restaurants worldwide. And as @Russlenat pointed out they have closed about 1/4 of their locations in the last 7 years. I wish them well, and this is marginally good news for BTC. But between this, and their 'tallow fries' and everything else it really looks more to be a lets throw everything at the wall and see what sticks in order to save a dying restaurant chain. Then really being pro BTC Opinion and nothing more. I have eaten at SnS a couple of times and was not impressed. Not bad, but not great. They are lower cost then other similar chains but once again IMO it shows in their burgers & fries. Would rather pay more and get from Smashburger or go to a place like Chilis and get a 3 for me. https://www.chilis.com/menu#3-for-me Like the saying goes out of good and fast and cheap you can only get 2 of the 3. They try to do all 3 and only get 1 (cheap) But, some people do love them. However, with the number of locations shrinking I think more people agree with me. -Dave

It can simply work by scanning the barcode of the company Bitcoin address while sending the payment, or the cashier simply calculate the amount of food you buy, print out the calculated sum with the barcode, once payment is made, and confirm on the blockchain, it would be integrated in such a way that the system will automatically mark the food items bought as paid and them the cashier will notify leave that payment is confirmed. That's how I think it may work in my opinion.
