Tennessee just joined the club as the second state in the U.S. to ban Bitcoin and crypto ATMs. Now, it’s illegal to own or run these machines.
Operators who let people buy Bitcoin or other crypto assets with cash have until July 1 to shut them down, thanks to House Bill 2505 that Governor Bill Lee signed on April 13 after it was introduced earlier this year.
This feels like a major setback for Bitcoin acceptance in the U.S. if other states follow suit. That’s a total of 651 Bitcoin ATMs that need to be turned off by July 1.
