I'm curious about what everyone thinks regarding the legal side of TULIP and Nakamoto's wallets.
For the sake of discussion, sure, they've made court filings claiming ownership of those wallets. But what if someone else actually holds the keys to those accounts? Having the keys pretty much proves you're the owner of the wallet(s), but since these wallets are basically sitting there untouched, wouldn’t that be enough? Or with the ongoing legal battles from Wright and Tulip, would this have to get sorted out in court? Plus, the country where these wallets are claimed or moved to would play a big role too. Just thinking about that scenario... any input?
Honestly, whoever controls these wallets would kind of be Nakamoto in a way, right?
Thanks.
Faketoshi doesn't control most, if any, of the keys he's claiming he does. Idiot dug himself a hole and now looks even more foolish than he normally does. The courts can't do anything to Bitcoin itself, so it doesn't matter all that much what they decide to do.
It's likely that the real owners of those keys value their privacy because they're sitting on a vast fortune, so chances are you might never find out who they are or whether they are satoshi or not.
Wright has already been outed by signed messages of a couple of the addresses he claims ownership on, so yes, someone else has (some of) the keys:
Probably not satoshi, but defnitely not Wright's coins.
