Hey everyone, I'm new here so sorry if my questions seem a bit off. I'm building a new house in Canada and I could really use your advice on what outlets to ask my builder to install. I shouldn't have any issues with electrical load since my area has newer, higher amp service.
Given that the Antminer S19 needs 20 amps, I should be good to set up 4 units, but I plan to start with just one. My idea is to keep it in the basement during winter for the extra heat and then move it to the garage in the summer.
For the garage, I'll have a NEMA 14-50R outlet since I plan to use it for an electric car someday. In the finished basement, I'm considering putting in another 14-50R, which could also work for an electric stove. I probably won’t need a stove later, but it might be a selling point if I decide to move.
I have a couple of questions:
1. I noticed that for the 14-50 outlet, there don't seem to be many PDUs available. The only option I found to power the Antminer’s C13/14 plugs is from a specific mining power hub on eBay. I'm a bit worried about safety and don’t want to risk a fire in my home. Are there any other options I might be missing?
2. About PDUs, I think most are designed for L6-30R? Should I just go with L6-30 for my basement instead? The downside is that I might not be able to use L6-30 for other things. I also thought about sticking with 14-50 and using an ACWorks adapter to L6-30, but I’m unsure if that’s a good idea.
Which electrical outlet should I choose? 14-50 or L6-30?

Go with cat6 if it isn't much more $. I use a wifi bridge to hook up my miners in my garage and it works fine, but it's just another thing that will eventually break...
Outlets are easy to change, what you want to figure out is what maximum Amp rating you want, and how many.
If it were me, I'd put in 2 outlets on a dedicated 20A breaker per miner. That would be good for the current 3kw miners and no need for a PDU. That's assuming you are on 240V.
If you have them run wire that can support 30A, then you have some room to upgrade when the next gen >4kw miners are the norm... all you'd need to do is change the breaker and the outlet.
Of course, discuss the options with your electrician...
Also, think about ventilation. You're likely to have a hard time running even a single 3kw miner in your garage in summer without moving a significant amount of air in and out of your garage.
