I’m curious about the whole altcoin season thing. Last year, there were some signals that had a lot of people thinking we might be heading into it. Some jumped in and bought altcoins, hoping they’d perform better than the initial bull run, but instead we saw the market tank. Now I’m wondering if 2026 could actually kick off a bull run, especially with the way things are looking pretty red right now. What do you guys think? Any advice on this situation?
Are we still looking at an altcoin season?

2026 a year which the first month stated good and ended on the red side, Im more focused now on how long it will take the market to recover from this bleeding stage and go back to a greener stage, as for altcoins season it have already been over emphasized this year already this was the same way people started earlier to predict how massive it might come last year but we saw only a few altcoins increase but not as massive as speculators expected, this year I also dont see it happening especially as what you people call Altcoin season is only when time few coins all most altcoins pump more than 3 x of there previous value.

Typically this season will happen if Bitcoin stabilize or there's lots of fresh demand will enter on ETH also together with other top coins. If that scenario will not came and the attention of people still on Bitcoin then I guess that altcoin season will remain to be stagnant and unknown on when it will come.
You could actually start to accumulate if you want to, especially if you have extra funds and believe that those alts you bought have potential to pump.
But be careful on choosing an alt and don't be so greedy, just use extra money which you can afford to lose to avoid getting lots of problems if your target altcoin season will not gonna happen again in this year.
We need to know what you really mean by altcoin season. A massive pump with every altcoins reaching all time high even higher than before? most likely not. A dead cat bounce from all time low with little bounce around 20-30%? most likely.
Technical indicators point that majority of cryptocurrencies in the market are in the status of heavily oversold, this could mean two thing :
There will be flow of capital coming to altcoin for recovery, returning its status from heavily oversold to neutral which means some price pump Capital escape altcoin entirely and the altcoin will have no liquidity anymore except maybe top 20.
This is why altcoin season is so uncertain and buying now is akin to throwing away your money. Everything is so uncertain. Just overall a pretty bad situation to be in if you holding meaningful amount of alts.
I start buy back several top altcoin only Ethereum, BNB and Litecoin as my collection of altcoin right now, many people avoid to buy because altcoin season not coming yet but I see BNB, ETH and LTC already drop drastically why panic to buy on the right time? Buy bitcoin not enough yet with my capital and I think three top altcoin is the best altcoin to invest not problem the altcoin season not coming yet but I believe possibility of three coins break out.

I don't think that you need a seer to be convinced that we are heading towards the bear season, because Bitcoin is what controlling all these alt coin, so as long as Bitcoin is going down by the day, their is no way alt season will come when Bitcoin is seriously down.
As the market is right now, no body that knows how the market operates will ever come and be talking of alt season because the month of January started with a bearish candle, and this past January candle sticks close on a strong bearish note, so we should be expecting further dip in the market for an extended period of time since it's happening in a higher timeframe like a month, so as for now, their is no sign of any alt season till Bitcoin first recovers.
None of the current altcoins will boom in 2026!
2026 will be a rough year for many reasons (ukraine, china etc.) and people will look for real security!
Maybe an altcoin like "cotidianus-digitalis" could make a run in 2026, but it is not there yet nor are similar coins!
From how I have comes across some certain altcoin in the market I usually understood that buying when the market is at bottomless part is the right approach to enable and ensure utilisation of investment. Whenever investment are being channelled through the dip or the bearish moment it would help us bag enough quantities of what are targeting to accumulate especially those coins that are well reputable in the market, maybe taking and sighting instances on the top 10-20 altcoin which could actually helps even though the market has dump across 50% these coins should able to withstand the market pressure and also recovers so quickly whenever the market changes direction to its original price level.

But if I may ask which altcoin season is that, aside the bearish market fast approaching, the market is bleading although it can still recover , but the way things are going, do we think that Bitcoin will drop to pave way for altcoins, has is that possible when we know that Bitcoin price is what triggers them all just as you did write in your own words.
I ask again can any investor right give a break on Bitcoin to start acumulating in different altcoins when the price of Bitcoin at this moment is two hundred percent far better than altcoins even as the price of if Bitcoin is, right now.

Just because people are talking about altcoin season doesnt mean you should rush to invest in any altcoins. Always take your time to do some research before you take any action, you shouldnt invest base on what you hear people saying on social media, you should invest base on the research which you do.
People are expecting altcoins season but nobody knows when thats just going to happen, and because the market is down right now doesnt mean we wont be experiencing altcoins season this year, very soon the market can just bounce back, and we going to see coins pump.
For me I don't think that discussion of altcoin season should be even talked about for now seeing how the market is bleeding if anything I think now is the time where you can lose up lots of cash if you decide to invest on any altcoins so if am not mistaken I think I will have to wait and see how the movement will be so that when we see green then decision making time can come.
you are right to be cautious to be fair what happened last year was not a real altcoin season. it was really all just speculation without evidence . a lot of individuals entered alts way before Bitcoin had even shown itself and cause of this alts was far less then what people thought however that is the risk we take in investing in these.
This should be the bear time for this market and that altcoin season supposed to happen last year and not for this year. And that's why if a bull run comes again for this year and breaks the cycle, that's good. Otherwise, expect it that the bull run has officially ended.
Accept the current situation and think of it that it has ended.

I'm not a financial or market expert but the probability that we'd see an altcoin season this year is pretty slim. Maybe we might have a mini run in bitcoin but for the larger altcoin markets, it's a big doubt. Even though we later get a run in altcoins, I'm pretty sure it'd be just a few selected altcoins and not all altcoins because the last time we had a full blown altcoin market that happened across the board, we had 10 to 50x fewer altcoins than we have today.
@perfectbaby altcoin season lol
every year every cycle someone says altcoin season is coming
i've seen this play out since 2015
you think these random alts are gonna pump when btc is crabbing or dumping
the only real alt season is when bitcoin goes parabolic and then people rush into shitcoins for the fomo pump
then it all gets rekt when btc takes a breath
2026 you say sure maybe after the next halving but that's a long way off and most of the alts today will be dead projects by then
don't listen to hopium just look at the charts
and if you think some 'supportive advice' from strangers is gonna save your bag good luck with that
just hodl bitcoin if you don't wanna get burned again

I think mostly all major altcoins will join the journey in the coming altcoin season because almost 90% of the market turns green in a bullish wave which is only followed after bitcoins. Last altcoin season did show us a similar situation and almost every coin was rallying towards peak which made most of those achieve ATH's and then drop down. This will happen this year as well but yes, I think it might be delayed considering the current price moment. Institutions have shown great interest in bitcoins, but altcoins remain unnoticed. As soon as these institutions start showing interest in altcoins, it will start the rally.
It might be expected for some altcoins to remain unnoticed and might miss the season because most people now have their favourite coins which they prefer investing into. The portfolio diversification has minimized, and it has turned out to be a bit difficult to trust every altcoin.
last year there were just to many predictions and a lot of people entered to early way before Bitcoin was stable. know one really know when it will happen for this year it is all just predictions which can not be used as certain. the only thing you van really do is use ways to stay safe by not just rushing in buying alt coins or start by buying in slowly at first. simply just wait the the clear signs for falling Bitcoin dominance & strong volume.
My supportive advise to the market is now based on the condition of the market and what the market is exhibiting now is that, 2026 hasnt really shown a very good potential for good market returns even when many have hoped things will get better. It is better one stick to not have high hopes on the market especially on altcoins because most of them are following in the direction of Bitcoin, since were seeing a reduction in price uptrend in the market, it is showing a clear sign of yet another bear market. What I think of this market is that unless if only people will move their money from bitcoin investment into altcoins, we wont see a potential growth in the altcoin market, talk more of an altcoin season happening now.
Altseason won't happen this year. So many alts have been shooting up for the new ath in the last years. If people are really thinking we're gonna have another altseason. I'm 100% believe it's only their wishful thinking. So why? Market is not has healthy as last season. There are too many shit scam coins exist in the market the drained retail liquidity. So many vaporware and garbage criminal platform such as pumpnfun exist.
Those things are burnt the investors and retail. It's also making alt season may not be happening again.
My advise never try to be over in taking the hopium about altseason. It's getting wild with how people still hope it to happen, while Bitcoin dump from 120k to 75k. It is showing we're at bearish trend. Use your sense, and try to deal with the instrument that less risky instead of putting your money in alt. So you can avoid to get rekt due to your wishful thinking about altseason.

Waiting for Bitcoin to reach $80,000 is a good indicator for investing in altcoins. If the price doesn't reach that level, I don't think the altcoin season will begin, and investing in altcoins at that point could be a guaranteed loss. altcoin season might not include some cryptocurrencies like Monero and Tether Gold (XAUT), which may perform better than most other cryptocurrencies.
