Braiins Autotuner not saving settings?

Hey everyone I'm looking to switch my power targets as often as I change my socks, maybe even hourly. Not talking about variable targets, just like 4 set power options to help manage heat. I heard that Braiins keeps just one power profile with the Autotuner. It optimizes for the chosen power target and then takes about an hour to hit "Stable". But why is that? Why not save all the settings once the Autotuner stabilizes? Cheers!

That's normal for Braiins, the autotuner solves one optimization problem at a time: it maps per-chip voltage/frequency to hit your current power target under today's temps and PSU droop. If you change the target and the optimum shifts, it retunes. They keep only the latest profile because cached tables go stale fast as the silicon ages and airflow changes and extra flash wear occurs. If you really need four "modes," you could use static clocks/volts profiles or swap configs and accept the 30-60 minute retune each time. The hourly flips will always feel slow because the tuner has to re-measure error rates to be safe rather than reuse last week's guess.

Also if the room the miner in is subject to the temperature. Ie it is hotter on a hot day and cools  off at night  the machine will retune. I am not a fan of auto tune and prefer setting static at about 90% of top speed. Ie a 200th machine set to 180th static and leave it alone seems to last longer.

Hm this sounds like Braiins is not worth it. If I get rid of the autotune, then I don't know what benefits are left from Braiins for me to use. :/ Yeah, fine grained power control, but the stock FW has 2 modes that work directly after boot and maybe I could arrange with those modes and save myself any Braiins fees.

Brains has value for a few reasons. You can clock the fans better manually for sound control. You can add an aftermarket cooler. Don't underestimate the value of a ton of fan settings and a ton of frequencies to pick from. I have used brains. I have used vnish I have used epic controller I have used mara controller I have used stock bitmain I mostly use epic controllers with my gear. As they are zero fees Altairtech.io sells them.
