Hey everyone I'm setting up a pretty big server for crypto mining. Does anyone know if it's legal in Europe, especially in Germany or France? I came across some companies offering bitcoin VPS, but I noticed that you can't actually mine on those and they'll shut down your VPS if you try. What's the story with that?

There are no legal issues with mining crypto in Germany or France Those companies just let you buy VPS with bitcoin, not mine bitcoin with a VPS Doesn't matter how big your server is, you can't mine bitcoin with any type of computer or graphics card, see https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2415854.0 You may be able to mine alt coins, but that would mean your question belongs in another part of the forum.

To complement Biffa's answer, you can have an idea of which countries are more "open" to BTC by visiting an article on Wikipedia entitled - Legality of bitcoin by country or territory[1] No matter how "huge" your server will be, I would seriously check all the "math" before heading straight into mining Bitcoin with it. As Biffa said, it might take some time before you start generating profits from your server rig, and unless you have a very good deal regarding electricity costs - besides your rig specifications - then I'll think twice before heading into this venture. No huge server will generate anything useful Bitcoin mining at all. A single current asic miner is millions of times faster than a CPU and hundreds of thousands of times faster than a GPU.
