I'm working on Finalis-core. The Linux version runs smoothly, but I've hit a snag on Windows. It begins syncing but then crashes out of nowhere. Can anyone help me figure out what's going wrong?
Quick guide to understanding the consensus in this repo:
1. Core features
- Deterministic finality means no fork-choice race.
- Nodes only work with the finalized frontier path (`height = finalized + 1` logic for frontier/canonical replay).
- Mainnet settings are fixed in network.cpp.
2. Check these documents first (in this order)
1. CONSENSUS.md
2. LIVE_PROTOCOL.md
3. PROTOCOL-SPEC.md
4. CHECKPOINT_DERIVATION_SPEC.md
5. REWARD-SETTLEMENT.md
6. ONBOARDING-PROTOCOL.md
3. Protocol steps for each height
1. Set up proposer/committee for `(height, round)` based on deterministic checkpoint state.
2. Proposer sends out frontier proposal.
3. Committee votes; once quorum is reached, we get a finality certificate.
4. Block/transition gets saved and is now the finalized tip.
5. Schedule the next-height committee/proposer.
