Need help unlocking firmware for S21 Amlogic FR-1.12(251009-S21)?

Hey everyone, I'm attempting to get LuxOS, Braiins, or VNish running on my Antminer S21 that has an Amlogic control board. Here's the current firmware version: FR-1.12(251009-S21) What I’ve tried so far: LuxOS Commander it says "Unable to connect to miner." Braiins Toolbox can see the miner as: Antminer S21 Bitmain Stock It’s marked as installable, but nothing happens when I try to install. VNish / Hashcore Toolkit recognizes the miner too, but I get this error: "create ssh client." For recovery attempts: I downloaded S21-aml-flashcard.zip and formatted my media to FAT32. Put all files in the root directory: aml_sdc_burn, aml_sdc_burn.UBOOT.ENC, aml_upgrade_package_enc, SECURE_BOOT_SET. I tried both a 64GB microSD and a 1GB USB flash drive. During boot, the USB activity LED blinks, indicating the miner is reading the media, but recovery never kicks in, and the firmware stays the same. So I'm wondering: Does the FR-1.12(251009-S21) firmware prevent SD or flashcard recovery? Is it necessary to perform an AML Unlock for this firmware version? Has anyone had success installing LuxOS, Braiins, or VNish on this specific firmware? And is SSH turned off by default on FR-1.12, leading to the "create ssh client" error? Any insights or confirmed processes would be really helpful.

Try one solution instead of three. VNish has excellent tech support; if you message them on Telegram, they usually respond within a few hours or less. Your firmware is dated November 20, 2025. Amlogic control boards with firmware from September 2025 or later cannot be flashed using an SD image. If the above method does not work or you can't able to downgrade the control board, then you don't have any other choice but to replace the control board with an older one so that you can downgrade and flash it with custom firmware. The other control board is the one that philipma1957 usually mentions here, called the ePIC universal control board, which is way better.

I'm sure that this is working out of the box, I have a friend with armlogic c76 control board and it's working but he doesn't like it, he is someone like you who want to try something new so he went ePic Universal and things got better from there on, still up and running till date, I think you have no choice than to change the control board if you want to expand the experience. If you have a computer and you can follow instruction carefully then it's not hard to unlock the USB port using the link that FP91G dropped above, just be extremely careful, you don't want to end up with a dead control board, remember, thread carefully. Still, I believe it's better if you can keep mining for now and get some money later for a control board like ePic, I'm worried that you can do something wrong unlocking that USB port.
