So, Iran and the US have settled on a two-week truce. After Trump put out his ceasefire message, Iran's foreign minister Seyed Aragchi mentioned that Iran will stop its "defensive operations" and will let ships pass through the Hormuz, coordinating with Iran's military. He also mentioned that the US is on board with the general idea of Iran's 10-point plan. But what does this really mean? First off, don't get too relaxed just yet. We still have no clue if this is the beginning of serious talks between Iran and the US. Also, oil prices aren't just gonna bounce back to normal right away. Two weeks with the Strait of Hormuz potentially opening isn't enough to get oil out and flowing to the rest of the globe. This ceasefire could help, but as long as this conflict continues, a lot of countries' economies are still gonna struggle.

It amounts to more of the same. It’s a temporary respite for the markets—something that’s already been seen in Bitcoin, should be seen in the stock market, and is also evident in oil prices (which are falling). The thing is, during the conflict we’ve already had other glimmers of hope like this one, which had a similar effect, and at the slightest sign of an escalation, everything went back down and oil prices went back up.

Yes, as they say in politics, it is cautious optimism. It is true that they have reached an agreement for now, but any breach of the agreement from the other side’s point of view, or any small incident, could reignite the conflict and cause the markets to fall again. If a final ceasefire agreement is not reached, the Middle East region will remain in a state of great tension. This region is very important to the global economy because most of the oil and gas fields are located there, as well as because of its geographical location on global trade and transport routes. Therefore, any tension there will negatively affect all markets. We hope that these leaders will stop their arrogance and that peace will prevail in the world.

Of course, two weeks is not enough to restore oil and gas supplies in full, especially given that the infrastructure has been destroyed or damaged. Well, this is just a break (besides, it is unclear whether the truce will be respected in practice). By itself, this war can only end with the destruction of one of the opponents (Israel or Iran). The United States is likely to withdraw from this conflict after successful negotiations (this is just a guess). In any case, a truce is better now than a further escalation of attacks.

Let's look at the positive side. At least the Strait of Hormuz has been fully reopened and the supply chain will be partially restored, which will somewhat ease pressure on oil prices in the coming day. Secondly, for the war to end and a lasting peace agreement to be signed, a beginning is necessary. Therefore, the temporary ceasefire and the start of negotiations between the two sides are the first positive sign, and that is something to look forward to. Instead of letting tensions continue to escalate endlessly.

I smell something really fishy here since there is no way in hell that the orange muppet would agree to the 10 point Iranian requirements without a huge catch involved. There is a possibility that he temporarily agreed just to manipulate the financial markets. Despite all of his shortcomings, he is a somewhat smart businessman after all which is why this could be his endgame here. Hope I am totally wrong here and that this ceasefire could truly end the war completely.

I wonder did Trump and friends have trades on the Oil prices dropping because of Trumps pull back?probably I agree He was facing a lot of resistance from republicans and its just another turn around from his usual threats. Its all going to pan out in the next 2 weeks providing we actually get through that time. Negotiations are kicking off on Friday and we will find out then if Iran's 10 point plan will be agreed on. One of the plans is: "An end to attacks on Iran and its allies." We have already seen that Israel has stated they will continue to fight Hezbollah Here are Irans 10 points: 1.] Fundamental commitment to non-aggression from the US. 2.] Controlled passage through the Strait of Hormuz in coordination with the Iranian armed forces, which in effect would mean that Iran retains its leverage over the waterway. 3.] An acceptance of Iran’s nuclear enrichment programme. 4.] The lifting of all primary and secondary sanctions and resolutions against Iran. 5.] End of all resolutions against Iran at the International Atomic Energy Agency. 6.] End of all resolutions against Iran the United Nations Security Council. 7.] The withdrawal of US combat forces from all bases in the region. 8.] Full compensation for damages suffered by Iran during the war — to be secured through payments to Iran by ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. 9.] The release of all Iranian assets and properties frozen abroad. 10.] The ratification of all these matters in a binding UNSC resolution. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/4/8/us-iran-ceasefire-deal-what-are-the-terms-and-whats-next Many many hurdles to be crossed yet.

Well, this will at least clear the backlog of ships that hasn't passed on the Strait of Hormuz for weeks. 2 weeks is enough for those ships to pass without any damage or being threatened whatsoever. Just a few hours after the announcement of a ceasefire, the price of the global market went up. Gold went up, Bitcoin went up, Stocks went up, but the Oil dropped massively. If I remember correctly, that's around -36% in just a span of an hour, and that's the biggest single hour drop for oil in history. I guess we can say that this ceasefire is kind of historic because of what happened with oil, eh? Kidding aside, this 2-week ceasefire will at least ease the lowering supply of oil towards other countries, and because of this, I'm optimistic enough that this war might end sooner than we expected. Maybe after this 2-week ceasefire, Trump decides to end the war already and claim his "delusional" victory. Israel on the other hand though agreed to stop bombing Iran, but not those Hezbollah on Lebanon. 2 weeks isn't enough for the global economy to recover. Some says that it will take years before it goes back to normal... that if we will still go back to normal pre-economy state.

This is good enough to prevent destruction in some countries and both of them because if they do some destruction every day, they will soon destroy their country and at the same time those who are not at fault will not be able to manage their economy. Although it is good on Iran's part that it has opened this path and America has also come to its senses that it has accepted some conditions due to which Iran is allowing this path to open, but this will not happen all the time. It will take a long time because this war is not going to end. Iran still needs many things and it will leave after fulfilling them and America will have to listen to it as it has been heard now. Obviously, this war is not a war on a trivial matter and both of them will not rest in the same way and so far Trump has not said anything about it on his X and if it happens, he will tell us soon so that we can rest for a while.

I also have the same view that Donald Trump would end the war in Iran's terms. Even Iranians are skeptical of this sudden change of mind. Some of them see it as a tactic for the US and Iran to buy time to re-strategize and regroup. It could also be that the US president is under pressure from his political base and Middle East allies. Trump has lost the support of some of his loyal supporters, and the majority of US citizens are also against the war. The economy of the US allies in the Middle East is going down every day. Trump might also be aware that an escalation might lead to a global recession, which would attract more backlash from Americans. Hoping that the ceasefire will lead to a permanent end of the war because the negative effect on my country's economy has begun. I'm also expecting the price of fuel to drop slightly within a few days.

The 2 week temporary ceasefire intended to allow time for peace negotiations, means it's not yet a complete peace and there's still the potential for renewed war if the proposed points are unacceptable to one party. This is because judging by the status of the ceasefire it's still temporary and full of conditions that could be canceled at any time if either party violates it. However, what's interesting about this 2 week temporary ceasefire is that it was immediately welcomed positively by global markets, especially the stock market and Bitcoin. The Bitcoin market responded with a sharp increase, breaking the $70,000 mark and reaching $72,000 within hours. It's interesting to see whether this truly marks the end of the wa or simply a pause used to manipulate the market as before. What's certain is that the global market immediately responded positively, with oil prices dropping and sentiment today is indeed trending in the green.

It’s a start of something good and it’s better than non-stop bombing for the sake of the Iranian people. This might be just a temporary fix but who knows this might be successful for a long term peace since most Iranian primary leader was already taken out. I’m hoping for a successful negotiation this time since my country was heavily affected by this oil price due to incompetent government. We are already top 3 highest price for petroleum product in the world while we are 1 one of the poorest country.

This was always going to be the case. In fact there's evidence that Pakistan's declaration of brokering this deal was actually supplied by the US. Trump kept escalating but Iran was clearly not interested in backing down, so now they can both save face by claiming a cease fire. However Israel is going to keep instigating because they're a little chihuahua that gets to bully their opponent while the Pitbull is in town, they never wanted the US to back off. It's a temporary restbite and hopefully things can head back to normal, but Iran had a lot of damage done to it - civilian structures - which they might rightly ask for reparations on. Otherwise we could see the gulf of Hormuz becoming a situation again soon enough. Plus Trump never got any concessions so we might be at the same precipice in two weeks time.

looking at it economically, it might not be much but you are right that it will at least offer some relief to the people directly and most affected by the bombings. but still, we have yet to see if both sides actually stick with the ceasefire.

A lot of ships can pass in these 2 weeks, but from the sailor's point of view, they must have faced a lot of trouble all this time, and still, they must be scared to move their ship because they know there is no guarantee, and their ship can be the next target. These 2 weeks are not only enough for these ships, but for citizens of Iran too, because there have been casualities in that country since the start, while Israel has bunkers, but both countries have strictly banned sharing any kind of information on this, no information can be seen, only the attacks on other countries done by unconfirmed attackers because Iran is not taking their responsibility too. It can be a big relief to effected countries like Iran, Israel, and other countries which have been attacked, these 2 weeks can also lead to better developments but I also sense something fishy but can't say how it will turn out, although considering all those threats from Trump, I start to think he might end the war after these 2 weeks, and it will be better for all of us.

The cease fire break doesn't mean everything is under rest, there will be deliberation and talks to make peace go round as possible so the three country peace accord will send message to other countries. On average, more than 50 ships pass through the strait of Hormuz, I don't think quarter of this number has pass through since this war started, not only barrels of ships pass through, even cargo pass through, this cease fire will have impact on countries that are expecting supply. I don't blame people for having doubts about this development, I don't think this is time for rebuild, even the Iranians didn't accept this ceased fire. The last time United state was in the middle of negotiations, they went in the night and flew missile over their roof top killings hundreds in the name of bad regime. However, the world is tired of their games, it's not only Iran that are feeling the heat at this point, even ordinary countries with abundant resources are feeling the heat of this war.

There is another additional condition and that's to stop from attacking Lebanon as well. Iran may quit US ceasefire if Israel continues attacks in Lebanon: Iranian media So, that's another important thing and if they want peace in that region they really have to stop attacking other countries too. Ally or not to Iran, that won't make sense anymore if they keep on attacking it. They're calling for peace and opening of the Strait of Hormuz and yet, they continue to attack.

It is obvious now that Donald Trump is just a pawn and that  Netanyahu prime minister of Israel is the one calling the shots. They just had a Fvckn agreement and Netanyahu just said no that bombing Lebanon. We can not have peace this way, I don't even know what they have on Donald Trump for him to be a yes sir president. This is outrageous, the 25th ammendment should be relied upon if Donald Trump can not deescalate this now. The strait officially closed with only four ships said to have gone through lately.

No one knows the deceptive tactics deployed on this ceasefire. The CIA is fully a backbone of the US intellectual decisions on this war, and all they're good at is to hit the Iranians off balance mentally and emotionally, this could one of their ploys.

I just watched a funny of most of the iranians burning the American flag and saying that they have won the war, are they that ignorant or they have forgotten the meaning of a cease fre. Few days ago Trump threatened to wipe out the entire country in one night but he didn't do it he ordered a cease fire instead, this is actually an opportunity for Iran to come to terms with their agreement that has already been announced by Trump. The ceasefire is just a way of preparing people what's going to come if they don't do the an agreement very soon.
