Hey everyone, just circling back on my earlier post... I’m a freelance developer and one of my clients sent me 50 USDT but I didn’t realize I need TRX for gas fees to actually use it.
Now I’m stuck because I can’t afford to buy TRX right now.
I’ve checked out a few faucets but they’re not giving out 12 TRX, which is just around 3 bucks.
Can anyone help me out and unlock my funds?
I can offer some USDT in return... just let me know what you want.
Hit me up on Discord > gabexeth
Thanks!
Where to find 12 TRX for transaction fees?

Give this article a read and you should be able to do this yourself (I have not tried though): https://symbiosis.finance/blog/tron-gas-free-explained-how-usdt-pays-fees-(no-trx-required)
Symbiosis is a known bridge, apparently they're planning to start supporting that in the future but for the meantime, you should be able to do it through TronLink or Guarda wallets. If you're using another wallet, I would imagine you should be able to restore it in one of these two wallets.
Hello, it says 404 Sorry! This page isn't available.
I am using Exodus wallet and my money is stuck because I don't have trx....
There is a 404 error because the link above is not fully highlighted. As you can see, the end of the link is missing ).
As for the gas-free function, it assumes that you can use usdt as a transaction fee, but it's worth noting that this is not available in every wallet, and sometimes it can even be more expensive than the trx fee.

This feature is service based, not a native protocol; it should also work even if the user imports the wallet into another app that supports free gas.
There is no decentralized wallet that support free gas, and I doubt there could be one at all. What OP really has is USDT trc20 in his dex wallet. I can only advise OP to tell his client to help send him trx for free, and the deduct it after a successful transaction.
Saying this because you and client already trust each other.

You should get TRX from exchange. Faucet are no go these days because they either scam or giveaway too small amount. 12 TRX would take months probably from faucet even disregarding the scam.
Go to reputable exchange, and buy TRX from there and honestly a stablecoin transaction in tron doesn't take 12 TRX for fee from my understanding. They're supposed to be pretty cheap.

I'm referring to the Gas-Free feature offered by the wallet in the article. While it's not truly free, at least the user doesn't need any other coins to pay for gas. I've had experience with other coins offered by Trust Wallet, and they are truly Gas-Free (*).
But I'm curious if this is the OP's true story. He's active today but hasn't left a comment yet.

The reason may be the need for 12 TRX and not teaching him a way to spend the Gas-Free transaction.
scammers usually tell stories about amount greater than 50 USDT and they would promise to give you a portion of it after they were able to spend it.
Yes, less. To be more precise, sending USDT on the Tron network requires 345 Bandwidth, which should be free, and 64,285 Energy, for which you will have to pay (burn) TRX if there is not enough TRX in staking. Since the current energy unit price for burning is 0.0001 TRX, then 6.4285 TRX(~$1.84) will be required to conduct the USDT transaction.
Forget faucets or anything else other than buying it directly from CEX, look at how you get paid through cryptocurrency, in the future, you will definitely need a CEX account to exchange your money to FIAT. Besides 12 $TRX is big amount for faucet platform, no one will give you that. You also won't lose much money from buying $TRX for the transaction fee purpose, less than 10% of the total you earn, right?
Continuing with the bolded line, create a CEX account to support multiple payment methods for your services, mate. That will make things easier for all your clients.

I support the idea that you OP had to create an account in one of the reputed exchange wallet, and use the deposit address to recieve payment directly to your account where you can exchange the amount for free. This can be once done to fill your personal wallet with enough gas for future transaction.
I can help you with the trx amount if you can wait until next wednesday. I will send after receiving my payment from the signature campaign. Just post here or send me a pm containing a signed message from your address that has 50 usdt as a proof of credibility. However I wonder how you are a freelancer but don't have $3 to buy some trx and accept payment through a network you can't handle with.
Edit: offer cancelled after reading the other topic lunched by OP offering to sell the seed for the entire wallet for only $15: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5575062.
I've also read that before about trx gas fee free.
But if that doesn't work for you, just go with the usual process of funding that. And that's probably looking for someone who's looking to send you that much TRX and then sending it back to them in USDT.
Although it could be a double amount that you need since you have to send back to the sender of those TRX to you and then for the conversion that you're about to do.

Rarely used Tron and honestly I'm surprised. $1.84 for sending USDT is pretty expensive even by L1 standard, in Ethereum it only requires fraction of that after the blockchain scales and gwei stabilizes around 0.03 Gwei. Image above is an example of USDT transfer I took from the smart contract.
Considering ethereum is one hundred percent more secure than Tron (more than 2 million active validators vs 27 validators in Tron), I'm curious what could be the reason for people to choose Tron over Ethereum. If people want speed, they could use L2 with even cheaper price.
Hello yes, I tried to ask my client to give me the trx but he is Chinese and has very poor english.... he sent me an addtional $3 in usdt
So i still didn't figure it out yet.....
Well, it used to be profitable to use the Tron network, but as soon as the TRX price was pumped up, the fees skyrocketed. In fact, Sun's attempt to normalize the situation by introducing the gas-free function didn't lead to anything in particular.
It's funny, but a few years ago, no one would have believed that using the Ethereum network would be cheaper than Tron.

Allright, Chinese right? to me this is the first danger flag. Is your client a woman (or vice versa if you're a woman)?
I don't think they interact or do business with foreigners much. In fact, I get them more on dating sites and fooled a lot of people by acting the opposite sex. If you have had successful transactions with the same person, you don't need to be too skeptical. Just stay safe.

Tron should do it like BSC, with that low amount of validator, they could enforce cheaper transaction fee but It could be that they are chasing for profitability.
In BSC, it was as expensive until things change and become cheaper, around the time when CZ announced the fee is too expensive for swap and fee reduced 90% few days later.
