Technically you can already earn money while gaming for quite some time now. Selling items or accounts or earning money with twitch streaming is a thing for some years already
Also many pay-to-win games lets you grind hours to earn otherwise paid in-game currency. What now will happen is the logical next step to make in-game items better tradeable against crypto/NFTs or fiat currency.

Nobody expected that P2E games will emerge and right now it is the trend. Maybe we played Axie Infinity here or Splinterlands or MyDefi Pet here and because of this NFT games, I literally quitted all the games that I'm playing that isn't NFT related. Well, maybe I am just to old, but gaming is by definition a "waste of time". It is not supposed to be productive, otherwise it wouldn't be gaming but something else, something closer to an actual job probably... (I suppose in real-world sports there is the fitness and training aspect, but this hardly can be said of computer games)
